Hello i am new here. i just bought a 2k3 sedan with black int and silver ext with 19k on it for 17k. anyways i have been reading here alot and i it seems that there were 2 versions out this year. if i am correct the 3.0 has a handle on the trunk and the 3.5 does not. i have the handle on the trunk. did this version come out with trouble? also they havetold me here adn also read that the 3.0 does not have a center console(armrest for the driver?) i have one. so which one is it? thanks agian for your answers. great car.

I have a 2003.5 and Gurgen's 2003 is wintering at my place right now. He has a center console & arm rest.

They 03 has the doggy door, 03.5 and up do not.

There were some ECU and TCU differences between the two. Gurgen and DaveO kindly refer to their 03's as "beta" testers, where Nissan/Infiniti where trying out some things that were later changed. This accounts for the change in doggy doors and transmission shifts in MM (if your intended G is a 5AT)

If you are getting this for a general transportation vehicle, either will do it for you. If you will be modding, it may be that 03.5 takes to the mods a little better. each car is different though, so just make sure it's road worthy and a good price. Enjoy!

The 03 had the original design trunk w/handle. As well, it did not have a passenger side power outlet, but just a blank plug where it should be. It also did not have an internal trunk release. You can purchase the power outlet and trunk release and install them pretty easily.

The TCU and ECU have probably been upgraded as various TSB's came out. Can anyone verify the ECU upgrade? I know my TCU got upgraded to the latest firmware version 'cause I asked to have it done. If you have a specific complaint, like "the transmission hesitates when I put it into reverse or when I go from park to drive" then they will probably upgrade you for free. If you just ask to have it upgraded because you want improved MM, they'll likely charge you. Mine was free.

Other differences are that the 03 and 03.5 have a belt driven fan rather than an electric fan, which probably robs the engine of a bit of HP.

For the most part, though, the cars are the same. Enjoy!

i have a regular 03. everything these guys said is true. i like it, it only has 23k miles and it just turned 2 yrs old. lol

as far is the transmission firmware, can anyone verify this is true, and how can i get the dealer to do it free

 

I thought the electric fan only applied to the 6MT (it debuted as an '03.5).

Well, mine has both fans it appears, there is an electric fan in front of the radiator, what else would that fan be for? '04.
