In dash CD Changer

I always thought that it was OK to store my CDs in a changer like the one that comes with the Premium package. Someone just told me that I could damage the CDs by leaving them in all the time. Any truth to that?

I've never heard that.

Of course, if your changer jams, they'll replace the head unit, and ship the old one back to Clarion where some low-wage tech will be responsible for extracting your CD's and shipping them back to your dealer... I've heard of them getting scratched in this process.

Re: In dash CD Changer

I personally don't leave any CD's in the player. But I fail to see how they will be damaged if left in. I also went thru the O/M and found no reference to leaving CD's in there or not.
You'd think if it were that inportant that it would say something!

I have never heard that of any changer manufacturer. They want you to use their product and don't wnat it to damage your CDs,gives them a bad rep.

Re: In dash CD Changer

Regardless of any truth in it, if you have any doubts, just burn copies of your originals to put in your stereo and play those instead. I play mostly import cds that are ~$30-40 a piece, so i don't put my originals in the car.

Re: In dash CD Changer

Officially, the 6-disc changer in the G35 can't play CD-R or CD-RW discs. My service advisor also claims that they increase the chance of jamming. Your mileage may vary.

Re: In dash CD Changer

That seems to be the general consensus; I did say "officially."

Plus, if your player does get jammed, Infiniti may give you a hard time if there are CD-R's in it.

The owner's manual says Only use high quality 4.7 inches (12 cm) round discs that have the “COMPACT disc DIGITAL AUDIO” logo on the disc or packaging. That's your only hint.. as a CD-R is labelled "COMPACT disc RECORDABLE."

I'm not saying don't use CD-R's, I'm just letting ya'll know that my player has already jammed once, and that was the first thing the service tech asked me.. "Do you have any burned CD's in it?" I didn't. It jams anyway.

Re: In dash CD Changer

I think that those who have gotten cdrs jammed in their cd players have had lables on them... The lables you put on your cds can come off very easily..espically inside the deck....

I just get a sharpee and write the name of the cd im burning.. instead fo creating a label...

Re: In dash CD Changer

too be real honest..that doesn't make a lick of sense...

I dun tink anyone here has ever heard of that...where is ur friend getting this mis-information...
Its better too leave them in their den to have them sitting out..at least their protected in their..If they had a 100 cd changer I would leave all my cds in the changer...

But I dun leave orginals in the car, just because my friends 100 cds got ripped off...

Re: In dash CD Changer

Hi, snooz. I have not heard of that problem. I've had my CDs in the player for 3-4 months without any problems. I would not recommend the use of any sticky labels, etc.
