problem with Brake install (broke bolt)

As I was reinstalling the caliper I broke one of the bolts off inside of the caliper.

I am going to see If I can have one of the guys at work drill it out. If that works can I just buy a new bolt from home depot or autozone? Or do I have to go to infiniti

If that doesn work I guess i am in for a new caliper.

infiniti/nissan should have the bolt. I remember i broke one doing brakes on an 02 civic. that thing was like $8. what a rip-off, just for a bolt!

If you know the specs, you can buy a new bolt. It's prob a grade 10.9 bolt (roughly equivalent to grade 8 SAE) , and those aren't common home depot. Might have to order from somewhere like mcmaster-Carr but by the time you pay shipping, might as well go to Infiniti/Nissan and get one.

Dealership bolts are of better quality than parts store bolts though. They are usually held to tighter standards for fasterers used on automobiles while parts store bolts don't need to meet.

Well, you might have a tough time finding an equivalent bolt unless you go to real hardware stores that will carry metric 10.9 hardware...which isn't common

Your best bet is to look for an old hardware store. Forget Lowe's/HD .. think smaller chain that has been in your town forever. Other than that, stealership.

Will check a couple of local hardware stores tomorrow morning, like ace hardware. You were right, HD and lowes dont have anything close to this.

Hopefully the guys at work will be able to get the broken pin out tomorrow. ****, we make pins for air planes so I might even be able to find the right bolt...

Lesson learned, I need a torque wrench.....

Just checked pepboys and autozone websites and it looks like they carry this type hardware. Autozone even has the caliper bracket, so if it comes to that I can just purchase the bracket for 34 and the pin for 8 bucks.

allright, we are all good now. Took the part to work and they were able to get the broken bolt out for me without damaging the grooves. Went to autozone and they had the bolts for $7.99. they said they were for the brembo brakes but the bolts were the exact same.

Thanks for everyones helps
