My '03 mustang gt I owned before had factory synthetic fill on it's rear differential and the factory recommended maintainece interval was 100k.

I never let it go that long, but I don't think I really got to it until around 60k miles or so.

After refilling my g35s differential with synthetic, not really worried about changing it anytime soon. But it is easy to do and was $14 in fluid and an hour of my time.

The pump was $10 but I use it for other things as well.

Honeslty, for $14 and an hour of time, why not? What's a dealer charge anyway fpr diff service?

I had mine changed around 50k miles, my "guy", okay a bored retired Buick master tech, told me the plug was clean. Which was a cool thing to get told 1) about a used car and 2) with the person who was paying my insurance at the time standing right next to me.

I wouldn't change it again until at the very least 80k. It was replaced with Amsoil synthetic.

The dealer charged me 29.59 for the labor, 16.07 for the gear oil, and 5.30 for shop fees. I guess I over paid but it works, it was quick, and they caught my oil cooler leak while it was in there.

That's actually not bad for a dealer charge.

Fluid would cost you about the same. Shop fees are to dispose of old fluid (free if you DIY and bring it to Autozone) and $30 for labor is not bad at all really.

I got mine from Advance Auto. They have a pump that fits the smaller and larger size bottles. I don't know if that would fit a Liter bottle. WHere do you find a liter of oil in the US? All i see are Quart and Gallon bottles
