Never heard a thing... What surprises me more is that nobody has put out an inexpensive after market kit yet.

When I was at the stealership a few weeks ago they were asking over $200 to fix the light. Outrageous

Ok, my dealership must like me, because they got mine under warranty. I cant tell you what they said because I dont know. But if anyone that wants my old one to mess around and maybe come up with a solution they can have it.

How come they only need 12 complaints for a 02-04 CRV to get an investigation? And we have at least 50... and we get NOTHING?

I'll take it if you'd consider shipping to Canada? You could ship it in a flat rate box? I think I have the solution and maybe I can fix this one too and perhaps resell it to a member here for a nominal fee. I have an electrically gifted friend who fixed mine and maybe I could give back to the community. folks could send me the non working one and I could send them a working one back. It looks like the NHTSA has abandoned us so we're on our own.
Btw, here's what he reported finding with mine and how he fixed it. Feel free to try this on your own but I accept no responsibility if something goes wrong. "I found a bad solder joint on the light where the little +ve heatsink plates are joined to the circuit board…a design flaw, as they did NOT put a solder pad on both sides of the board, even though it appears to be a 2-sided board.

There are 2 points where it joins, and the one did not get made with a lot of penetration through the board.. It was juuuuust poking through. I soldered a secondary wire in parallel with it to make it redundant.

I fricked around for 1/2 hr trying to figure out WHY it blinked off and on when it was moved..could not find one EXCLUSIVE mechanical move that made it go off!! Crazy! Once I found the bad area and added the wire, I could not get it to STOP working at all."

To be honest I don't think that any will happen any time soon. I hope I'm wrong, but let's face the facts. It's been months and nothing has progressed. Even if it does happen, those without warranty like most of us wouldn't be eligible for a fix. At least not free of charge.

That being said why not run a group buy from one of our sponsors? I was looking at some LEDs and saw that they have a FULL replacement LED strip for a very cost effective price compared to OEM where it could run you several hundreds depending on where you bought it and who reinstalled it. This replacement is only $60, but like I said if we get a group buy for those who applied, we could possibly get a nicer discount vs 5 or 10 people buying it. I know I would offer a better price if I had 50+ people buying my product within matter of days. This might be our only solution vs making our own or buying it else where like I stated before. Best part, if I read it correctly, it's direct plug and play.

Anyone who want's to we can get a group buy going and I'll talk the guy. I figured I'd share my opinion before I jump the gun. Not only to save a few bucks (really don't care, but would be nice) but to help those who need a quick solution like passing inspection within a matter of weeks or days.

If this has been mentioned before, I apologize for repeating it, but I don't remember anyone posting anything about this so I figured I'd help everyone out with this one.

Is it possible to guy the factory light and install an LED strip?

Might now works maybe 10% of the time. I really get nervous in traffic with people barely awake behind me not seeing the 3rd light light up. It kinda is an instinctual reaction that you sometimes don't get with the main taillights....even if they are brighter

I don't see why not as long as you know what you're doing.

You can add me to the list, just found out mine is out last night. It was pointed out to me by an Infiniti mechanic who volunteers at the FD where I work.
He also said they have to drill it out to fix it because it's not really set up to be replaced easily!
