I don't know if anyone else here has run into this, but lately with the cold weather we've been getting (in 30-degree temps), I find that the 3rd brake light typically works in this weather condition.

I found the same thing, early in the morning, when it's very cold, the light works perfectly! A the day warms up, it stops wtf? I wonder if that diode is temp sensitive?

All Diodes are temp sensitive to some extent.
IDK if that's part of this issue, but no matter what causes the issue, it's still a problem that should be addressed (in some degree) bu NissanUSA

^^^^^Agreed, I suspect it has more to do with a solder joint around the diode than the diode itself which would also explain the temp sensitivity.

I just filed one out. Add me to the list as well.

I found out about my rear brake light when I got a fix it ticket for it.

Is there a DIY fix for this? I need to pay for my fix it ticket within 8 days.

^8 days huh? That's rough! FL gives you 30.

If you can't find a DIY quickly enough, or if you don't have time to fix it permanently, you could go buy a generic taillight (like for a truck) from Advanced Auto Parts, stick it on top of your third brake light, and wire it into the wires under the deck.
Just a temp-fix to get you by.

So im driving in the G coupe and its about 7pm. I look in the rear view mirror and see my 3rd brake light. Reminded me of this thread, I am thinking in my head "glad I dont have that none working 3rd brake light problem..suckers". So I look again in the rear view mirror to look at the red light that reflects of the rear window when I apply the brakes, well guess what...it didnt light up. Mine went out as well FML

With all these people registered, I don't understand why Nissan hasn't issued a recall yet. What's the threshold number for them to issue one?

Infiniti replaced the light assembly. $189 part and 1.5 hours labor. I know they probably took me to the cleaners there but what could I do....I needed my car to pass inspection. Sigh
