Group Effort to push for 3rd brake-light recall. READ IF YOURS IS OUT!
Could you possibly connect it to a battery and wiggle the wires or w/e? Maybe it could be loose wiring or poor connection.
It's not only the 03/04 it seems. Mine's an 05 and experienced this issue back in June of this past summer.

"My 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe 3rd brake light is out (inside glass). This is a common issue with the G35. It needs to be brought to Nissan of America's attention. This could possibly cause an accident. I have seen that 28 people have filed a complaint to you on my car forum. But I feel that this issue needs to be addressed ASAP. If it were just one car with the issue then I would gladly pay for it, but since this is a common issue, Nissan of America needs to fix this as it was a production issue."

Even if we find the problem, there should still be a recall. It worries me to think how many G's there are out there that don't even know they have this problem.
