That is going to be more work and more money than just swapping the diode. Is it an upgrade vs ours?Originally Posted by OKStateG35
Just wanted to bump this thread again because I'll be attempting to replace mine with a new one from a 2009 Maxima. Not sure if anyone else has tried this or not, but you can pick them up brand new for $60-$70 online so it's worth a shot over spending $250 for one from Infiniti. Just from looking really quickly earlier it looks like I'll have to swap out the plug connector from my old one, but everything else looks like it should fit. I'll post updates when finished.

I replaced the diode two years ago and it didn't fix anything. No idea if this one is an upgrade, but I just finished installing it and it works. Wasn't plug and play, but at a quarter of the price I'm not complaining.Originally Posted by DVG

I noticed this on my dad's 04 sedan before he sold it a couple years ago. Now I just started noticing it on my 06 coupe a month or two ago.. not telling how long it's been happening though.
It's intermittent. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off, sometimes it's noticeably on, but very dim (can't tell from driver's seat if the dimming is due to some LEDs not lighting, or if they're all on at reduced intensity). It can not work one minute, and then be working again the next, but it seems to be more likely to work the less time the car has been running. Haven't inspected it, but after driving behind my wife while she was in my G, I definitely feel like when it's not lighting up, it's definitely less obvious to the person behind that you're braking.
Add this to a growing list of electrical gremlins I've had in the past year.. (CD stack went out in Bose HU, driver's side door exterior lock/unlock button went intermittent for a week, then out completely). Too much to do with kids and list of home repairs for our new home so I haven't gotten to this stuff.

Mine stopped working, apparently the middle two LEDs went out so I just jumped them with a diode and now it works!

There is a guy on Ebay who is selling the LED's individually so you can replace the bad ones.
I bought them and replaced them on my 3rd brake light and it worked great. No need to jump the bad ones out just replace them. I used Conductive epoxy to attach to metal leadframe as my soldering iron was not powerful enough to generate enough heat to solder them in.
Just search "3RD BRAKE LIGHT LED REAR LAMP 03-07 G-Series" in ebay.

Mine went out a couple years ago. I just thought I screwed something up with my AMP in my trunk. But I see that this is a big concern to a lot of people. So other than buying new bulbs from ebay or paying for this out of pocket from Infiniti is there an "easy" swap to fix this?

I bought a replacement aftermarket LED strip from a vendor here 2-3 years ago for $50. been working fine ever since.

^They arent in business anymore.
I could design a new one like they did. I need somebody to send me dimensions of original board though. I would go about it in the exact way they did because thats the right way to do it. Voltage regulated, lumileds

Just wanted to drop in with an update. I am working to get my 3rd brake light released soon. It will be 1x or 2x stock brightness. Depending on what the customer wants. PM me if you are interested.
ok guys. I made a new one. PM me if you want it.

It is voltage regulated, the LEDs are outputting 3x the lumens of a philips superflux LED, and it is easy to install.
