Ignition

Well here's the deal, I bought an 04' infiniti g35x. The car has just over 100k miles on it but the price was well worth it. Anyway, it takes a good 5-7 seconds to start up and I must say it's quite embarrassing considering it is a beautiful looking car. Also, I took it to a mechanic and he said it may be the spark plugs or the fuel pump. This mechanic wasn't on my A list but hey, it was a free diagnosis. I also read somewhere that it could be something with my intake? I need some advice. Is there any way I could actually tell what it is? Thanks

I don't think that's the culprit reason being I can gas from multiple different gas stations. Do you think it could be anything else?

Change the piugs, you're probably due, and I would definitely change them since you bought the car used. Run some cleaner through the car, as it could be gunked up injectors as well.

If that doesn't help, start looking into other things, like the pump, etc.

I just find it beneficial for the car, and you, to do a few small maintainance things like that whenever you buy a used car, as its usually something people over look when they're about to trade in/sell.

Because he's at 100k miles, so he's due for a new set of plugs anyways, so why not take care of those while you're doing everything else?

It will also give you a little bit of an idea as to how the car was taken care of before you had it.

+1 on the plugs and cleaner. But try battery as well, maybe get it tested first. I have an 04 and just changed the battery and it starts a lot quicker. Mind you mine didn't take 5 secs to start but start time significantly improved.

Another +1 on the battery. My battery got discharged and every startup after that took like 3-5 seconds of turning over before it started. New battery, starts up instantly.
