Replace factory Ballast Xenon lights

Well I was quite surprised when I went to the dealer and found out they wanted almost $800 to replace the ballast on on my xenon headlight 04 sedan. I found a used one on ebay for $80 bucks. I have spent 2 hours seaching the site looking for a post describing where this is located and how to get to it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keeping it stock!

Thanks for the assistance folks!

can I get to it from the bottom of the car or do I need to take off the inner fender like replacing a bulb?

It may be almost impossible to really get to it through fender well, you might have to take headlight out completely to gain full access

$40 for 2 ballasts and bulbs.

Several members on here have them and have had very few problems (mostly with hid in halogen) .

Just got done taking this apart. WOW.... so much easier than I had anticipated. Took the wheel off then the plastic fender liner was easy to get out of the way... Thant's when i found out I had the wrong ballast. I bought a used one that is black. Mine is silver. I will return the one I have in the morning and see if I can get the right one order from them tomorrow. New to this forum. I sure appreciate the assistance.

Please feel free to let me know if you have a good source for a factory stock ballast. My car is a daily driver and by that I mean I drive it about 5,000 miles a month for my job and my wife drives it with my daughter on the weekend for about and 1,000 a month. Absolutely love the car, but I need to keep it stock ....

See my above post. No need to spend alot of money on stock parts, especially used you aren't guaranteed will work. DDM offers (or used to) a lifetime warranty on parts. You don't have to get crazy bulb colors or higher wattage ballasts. Stick with 35watt and 4300k bulb temp and it will be the same as stock, but 2 new ballasts with bulbs, for $40.

High Intensity Discharge Kit most popularly known as VVME HID Kit is used to improve

their light output of vehicles these days. HID kits are installed to replace the existing Halogen bulbs or fog lights with

the Xenon Arch Head lamps as the light output after installing HID kit is 2 to 3 times more than the standard halogen lights.

Apart from the glaring factor, HID kit is also used because it consumes less power as compared to the halogen lights.
HID kit consists of HID bulbs & HID ballasts to be installed in the existing halogen headlamp; some of the HID kits available

are Plug-n-Play while some others come with adapters. HID Kit is used for brighter light output. HID Kit that gives the

factory OEM look and is easy to install is mostly preferred. HID kit is available for different vehicles & is also available

in different colors. Different HID kits are available with color temperatures that varies from 2000k to 14000k, color

temperature relate to the color of the light output. For more: http://www.vvme.com

Except retrofitting an aftermarket hid kit in place of a factory oem one is a little trickier as the ballasts aren't plug-and-play and most aftermarket kits come with various halogen bulb setups and not the wiring to connect to an OEM style D2R bulb.

You get more bang for buck yes...but instll isn't as straightforward as swapping in an oem ballast.
