2003.5 sedan...and a mechanical fan?

I never really paid much attention to this earlier, but I just recently changed my belts out and noticed that I have a mechanical fan (attached to the pulley) instead of electrical. I thought only the early 03 doggy-door sedans had the mechanical fan? Anyone else with one?

The changeover may or may not coincide with the 2003 and 2003.5 change over. Really tough to say what goes on on the assembly line. I've frequently seen other makes of cars come off the line with incorrect equipment as well.

2004.5 sedans have electric fans, but you can definitely buy aftermarket electric fan kit for yours.

All 6MT sedans have e-fans.

Most all 03-04 5AT sedans have mechanical fans. Some later 04 5ATs snuck in with e-fans.

All 04.5 sedans have e-fans.

Ah, thanks for the info DaveB. I was hoping that my sedan wasn't an early 03 with the trunk replaced or something

^Easiest and best way to tell for sure is to check the plugs on your ECU

Yeah I checked and I have the gray plug And all this time I thought I was safe since I didn't have a doggy door. What a bummer.

Has anyone done an e-fan conversion using an OEM assembly?

^I haven't yet, but plan to.
The e-fan out of a older Nissan Quest or Mercury Villager (same vehicle) are a perfect size for the OEM fan shroud.

Interesting. So that's a different fan than the G35 e-fans I assume? Does it have a single fan or dual?

Keep us updated on your conversion. I'm very interested in doing this as well.
