It looks like an afterthought...like it was added on because it had to be, and was not initially designed into the bumper from the beginning like on the 07+

Just the way it attaches is more evidence of that.

It just doesn't "flow" with the rest of the lines of the nose.

Still dont know why it's there. Directly behind it is a structural support, not the differential.

Understood and I somewhat agree. It would have been nice if they had given it a more 'finished' look, but I still think it looks better with a vent than without.

 

would it make the aerodynamics of the vehicle worse?

it might lower your MPG a bit.. probably like 0.5 MPG.
and slow you down on the 1/4 mile

 

^The difference at 80 mph would be negligible.

 

I'm not really a fan of the vent either, but still a cool mod for the RWD owners that want the vent.
