I've only hit it a few times with a porter cable dual action and Menzerna SIP to remove swirls. I'm a huge fan of the Collinite waxes which last forever. It's garaged, but I do a lot of driving during the day.
Here's the thread on my durability experiment with collinite.

If you want something that will protect the paint try optimum opti-coat 2.0, its an acrylic sealant that is guaranteed to not fade (the test cars still bead water 4 years later).
However the paint fading underneath the clear coat is rather odd. If you have access to a paint thickness gauge do a couple reading around the area and post em up. But yeah, paint all comes down to care and SIP is a pretty strong compound. I'd maybe back off a little and try a less aggressive polish. And also, what color is you paint?

97k miles here and the paint/clear looks brand new. I drive almost 20K miles a year so this she's no garage queen. It's all about how it's been taken care of from day 1. If the paint's failing under the clear, your only option is to have the car repainted IMO.
My girl, polished/sealed twice a year and waxed no more than every 2 months:
Good grief I can't believe I posted that pic.

i dropped my car off yesterday for a full car paint job. Also removing the side moldings on the doors, for a more clean look. AND kurookie bumper! My paint was failing miserably, due to a poor paint job from previous owner, it was chipping which i then found out the previous paint job wasnt done right.
