Love my almost new "G"

I bought an Infiniti G35X with about 67k on the odo from carmax. The car was test driven on of all days a rainy day. The ride was inpressive and the handling great. I have test driven others in my class the Lexus IS, BMW 3 & 5 series, Mercedes c class even some american cars Camaro and Mustang. The 2006 even drove (in my opinion) better than a newer 2008 G35x. I love the combination of sporty ride and luxury. Though based on a 350z/GT350 Skyline the american interpretation was well thought out and a home run. I love pressing the petal and listen to that engine roar.Who says japanese cars have no personality? This car is a shogun assasin! I don't plan on any mods except for an upgrade of the stereo, cold air intake and exaust work. BTW anybody got any idea where i can find some factory wheels (cheap) i want a seperate set of wheels for the winter.

OB '04 Coupe Premium w/Performance Wheel & Tire
Check the Private Clasifieds in the marketplace for wheel and tire options, run your stocks in the winter and pick up a set of OEM 19's for the summer. They usually go for $600 - $800, maybe you can get lucky and get tires with them. Cold air intake is pointless as it does absolutely nothing and in some cases a loss of hp & tq. Instead swap out to a Rev-Up airbox, K&N filter, Z-tube and a Motordyne Plenum Spacer. The exhaust HFC, HR Y-pipe and Coupe Mid-pipe to bring out the VQ note, the OEM system is very efficient, but can be tuned to be better. Something to go along wih the OEM 19's is a Z-drop, it will lower your X about 1.5" and will still allow you to come close to spec on the OEM camber arms and toe bolts.

Even with all the OEM mods, you will probably spend about $1,500 maybe less if your patient. Enjoy your G and Happy Modding, just remember to keep it classy.

+1 agree with everything except the Z-drop with springs. IMHO save for coil overs instead! SOOOO many owners regret getting springs and wished to saved for the coil overs in the first place.

He did say cheap wheels, I just assumed a cheap drop also with no need for aftermarket camber arm cost.

Don't waste your money on an HR Y-pipe and coupe midpipe.

HR Y-pipe isn't so different from your existing Y-pipe (front diff clearance), and if you swap out to a coupe midpipe, you may save 25lbs, but the exhaust note will not change at all.

Best of luck with the car.

Just enjoy it!

The HR-Y does promote some benefits, not significant but some. Also the coupe midpipe does alter the sound of the exhaust (smaller resonator).

The HR Y pipe and coupe mid coupe helps a lot used together helps quite a bit. The stock Y pipe has a lot cotton and padding on the exterior of the pipe. It takes away some of the sound. After market y pipes dont and they are a tiny bit louder.

The coupe midpipe really improves low rpm sound. After maybe 3.5k rpm it sounds the similar. You will get drone though.

But what does make a large difference in sound are test pipes and HFC.

05 G35x Y-Pipe

RWD DE Y-Pipe on the left, 350Z HR Y-pipe on the right

Not much of a difference.

Ahh I forgot about the x y being similar to the hr y. But regardless coupe mid pipe is still beneficial.

Cheap meaning that i don't want new or refurbished wheels just some used factory wheels that i can put winter tires on. I'm often finding wheel quoted above $200 or more apeace not including any rubber. Considering my car is over 5 years old i thought a little less expensive to aquire some wheels.
