Is it possible to track production/delivery of new car?
When I bought my Chevy Blazer I was able to track the build and delivery via a 800 phone number.
As for my G35X my dealer said that he has the vin # for my car and that it will arrive in mid February.
Is it possible to track the movement of my car via the Infiniti web site? Kind of like using a FedEx tracking number.

Nope...uh uh. Nocando. ...It's not done anything like domestics and there's no way of knowing till' they show up. Sorry dude
There is a way but you have to be on the inside. Nissan of North America has a tracking program that they use for shipping purposes that tells the shipping dock which carrier a vehicle goes onto. That program starts the day that the car is finished and turned over for shipping. If, and its a mighty big if, you can find someone on the inside that works for Nissan in the shipping department, they should be able to tell you when your car is in transit. It will not tell you when the car started Body Shop or Paint, or Assembly since the two systems don't communicate. I have worked for two different OEM's and both had very similar software progrmas that tracked vehicles.

Being that I AM on the inside I feel comfortable in telling you that a "Magic Eight Ball" has a higher percentage of accuracy. Trust me when I tell you that any imfo. pertaining to delivery dates is only good to within a TWO to THREE week period. Not much comfort to somebody waiting for their new baby "G". We are asked on a regular basis to track down delivery dates for our customers, and have wound up creating more headaches, because of bad imformation, than anything else. Much luck.. JBX

JustBrilliantX,
when I worked at F_rd, I had a program that tracked the VIN number and told me exactly when a car was delivered and even who the delivery was made by. I tracked a vehicle after a F_rd dealer told a friend of mine that they could not tell him when the car would be there. Using this system I was able to tell my friend within three days of delivery what time the truck would arrive with his car at the dealership. He showed up exactly when I told him it would be there and even before his salesman knew the car had arrived.
When I said "on hte inside", I don't mean dealerships. I am referring to the actual shipping company or Nissan itself with a high enough clearance (such as a plant controller) that has access to the tracking info. I work for Mercedes US International now and they have a similar tracking program. However, the only ones that can use it are MBUSI or MBUSA (Mercedes Benz USA). The MB dealerships do not have access to this program and can not use it to track vehicles. Tracking a car is somewhat difficult, but do-able if you are on the inside.

I know exactly what you mean.....I've run quite a few GM/FORD/ dealerships and more than few high-end (MB, Audi, Saab, Porsche etc.) It's just a can of worms waiting for an opener. B Good. JBX

And then what? I thought I went through all this. You still only wind up with an estimated shipping date and a very large window of opportunity to **** off a customer......but then again isn't that what people expect us to do? JBX
