Hail Damage... To Fix or Not To Fix
I'll apologize in advance if I posted this in the wrong area!
Got a couple fairly visible hail damage spots the other day. I also have a couple door dings and a small back bumper puncture. I got a quick quote of about $700 for all that damage from a family friend's (dealer) hail guy.
Took it for its official AAA estimate and got $2600. I'm extremely tempted to invest that in the market while its down though.
The hail damage isn't that bad and hasn't been weighing too heavily on my conscious and I've lived with the bumper as is for the last several months (although I did fix it up a bit myself).
I'm also skeptical about PDR. I don't like the idea of trim being peeled and all that stuff. I want my car to be mint again, but I feel like I'd be taking a risk with PDR of creating other problems.
What do you all think? What do you know about PDR? Do I have anything to worry about?
Would vinyl wrapping the top black (I have an '06 IP) be a better idea (cheaper/less risk) instead of having the ceiling trim peeled for PDR?

I haven't researched or learned about the exact process behind PDR. However, my dad has been in the coatings industry for 15 years and has worked with several auto makers in developing paints and has an amazingly keen eye for detecting flaws in body work and told me that PDR, depending on the shop, can repair hail damage to where it is absolutely undetectable. That being said, there are places that repair the damage based on the diameter and number of spots so if you can get a good deal, it is worth it in my opinion.

I've used a local PDR place for door dings with fantastic results. You cannot find the marks at all. He charged under $100 for four or five total dings on two doors and the trunk lid.
According to the tech, if the dings show no cracked paint it can be repaired without repainting (Paintless Dent Removal). Creases are harder than dimples. The location of the dings is most important. Dings in easily accessible areas like the middle of the door, roof or hood are the easiest to repair. Dings on the pillars or on top of support structures are the toughest. Basically you need access from behind as the various tools he used work the ding out from there.
Good luck!
