The gtr is packed with over the top electronics too.... Still an awesome car.

I see your point about price though, going from a car that once cost 35k loaded to over 50k ..years down the line

The Q50 is no longer a driver's car, but a car with tech and luxury, and along with that a price to match! Heck, a loaded one can exceed 50K, a far cry from my old G. The Q never received any good review from all the car magazines. My old G has reached its limits for me. Keeping it for anther 6 to 12 months would not be a good decision. My best wishes to this great forum and its members!
A little odd choice. Although the Mazda 6 is a great driver's car for where it sits (FWD sedan), I don't know if I'd really put it along side of either your old G or the Q50. I would have thought you would have gone BMW/Audi/etc for alternatives.

If the goal was to stay in the same price segment as your last car, then I can sort of understand the choice.

I went onto a G8GT. RWD V8, 6sp auto, LSD rear, IRS.

here's what Jalopnik has to say about the Q50:

But the Q50's biggest problem is that unfortunately, it's just not that much fun to drive. On paper, it should be. It's got plenty of power. It handles well enough, staying flat and keeping body roll to a minimum during back road shenanigans. The issue is that this isn't a car that makes you ever want to engage in back road shenanigans at all.
Sure, it looks cool, it's rather nice to sit in, it's remarkably well-equipped it's and a dream sedan for any gadget lover. But due to the lack of low-end torque, the unwilling-to-perform automatic gearbox, computer-simulated sport steering, its too-quiet engine, and maybe even a lack of soul, the Q50 is never going to be a car you look forward to hooning. It's not a car that makes you want to take the long, twisty way home from work.
Infiniti nailed the tech. They just didn't add enough testosterone.

I can tell you from owning a G for 2.5 years; its always made me want to do some hooning or at least take the long way back home. I'll always remember the G as having a lot of soul and character.

With the newer models its lost a bit of that. If I wanted as much luxury as the Q50 then I'd go elsewhere.

My wife wants a new car and she really likes the new Q50..it looks really nice!! but, the price is close to 50k for a S model..thats crazyyy !!!! I would do up to 40k for it. In that price range I'd rather get a 1 or 2 year old used lexus gs350 F sport or bmw 535i M sport.
I'm getting the 2015 myself later this year...I'll still have my 04 G for a while tho..

Q50 does look hot- looks a lot smaller than G37s, looks like a newer version of the 03-06, don't know what happened with the second gens,,,, thread if funny though

my wife and I test drove a Q50 and i remember it being, whatever... everyone has nailed it by saying it has no soul. the g35 has the soul for sure. even though it's slower and less options etc etc, I would still choose to go with what I have vs the new one out there
