Power steering problems after swanging
Power steering problems after swanging
I did a donut and it would feel alittle stiff after but I didn't think much of it. I did it again a week later and it got really a stiff and wouldn't go away. It made a whining noise when if turn it almost all the way then grind. But that only happens when going slow speeds like under 10. I changed the power steering fluid and it still didn't work. About a month went buy and it felt the same but I got used it it. I swung it again and I heard like a electronical burst noise lw like a small turbo idk how to explain it lol. I'm thinking a fried steering pump or p/s gearbox?? Any help?
Stop doing donuts??
You probably had at full lock and the donut stressed the steering rack or pump beyond what it was designed for. But it's hard for us to diagnose the issue from here. You are going to need to get it checked out. Aftermarket rack about $300ish. Aftermarket pump about $200ish. Dealer prices for OEM stuff will be WAY more. Then factor in shop time and part markup (10-20%) if you have a mechanic do this for you. Not a cheap fix.
You probably want to take care of it soon before you have a serious failure at a time you really don't want your steering to quit.
