SRS light flashing
SRS light flashing
My g is a 2006 6mt sedan and I have had my srs light flashing for about a week now and finally got it into diagnostic mode after a few failed attempts. The flashes that it came up with was one flash for 3 seconds pause then two flashes pause then two more and then repeat, after searching for that code in the srs part of the repair manual i found nothing over this particular code and was wondering if anyone else knew what it could be. i have a video of the flashing but dont know how to link it in here. I plan on scheduling an appointment with the dealership once i get the time but the nearest one is over 50 miles away and would rather save the time and money. This is my first post on here and hopefully, i posted it in the right sections and appreciate any help i could get on this.
That's just the generic error flash, you need to get in diagnostic mode for it to give the actual pattern.
SRS will not enter Diagnosis mode if no malfunction is detected in User mode.
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. After “AIR BAG” warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second.
3. Wait more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat the steps 1 to 3 twice. (Perform three times in all.)
5. Turn ignition switch ON.
SRS is now in Diagnosis mode.

Yeah the light will flash that pattern when something is awry, then you can put it in diagnostic mode to see what component is failed. I do recommend taking it to Nissan so they can throw the Consult-II on it because that will tell you EXACTLY what is wrong like open/shorted wires, etc, the diagnostic mode just says "this component failed" but leaves it up to you to figure out what EXACTLY went wrong.
There is a TSB for the SRS light, not sure what years it covers though. I bought mine with the flashing light, I did the procedure for the TSB (cleaning all electrical connections and using dialectic grease on them) and still the flashing light. Then reset it with the procedure I found here, hasn't come back on since. Dealership wanted $1700 to replace an airbag module according to the paperwork I got with the car.

i ended up taking it to the dealership cause i had to head that way for other things. they said it was most likely the clock spring but all my other steering wheel controls work, does this sound right? also the codes that it brought up were b1049 and b1054 im going to go ahead and replace the clock spring itself since i can get one for 30$ on amazon without the position sensor but i am worried about having to reset the position sensor so any tips for that?
The dealership will have to recalibrate the steering angle sensor yes. Just make sure to have your steering wheel pointed directly forward before you start and to manually check the new clock spring for center by turning it both directions. It turns like 2.5 turns one way I think and you want it set dead center when you reinstall, using the matchmarks obviously but if you're off by one full turn you'll break the new one when you turn the steering wheel to full lock that direction.
Make sure to unplug the battery and pump the brakes a few times to drain residual current, be careful with the airbag module and always store it facing up and away from you. Don't place anything on top or you have made a claymore mine.
Be careful with the wiring harnesses, they can get pinched, take a before photo when you get the airbag module off so you can put everything back the same.
Use a steering wheel puller, don't just try to gorilla the thing off...

Since the dealership charged me 160$ for just the diagnosis of the airbag im going to look at other options if i have to recalibrate the position sensor, i heard about the datascan 2 and looked into it apparently they recently added the feature to recalibrate it and i can get it for 40$ from concept z performance and be able to get airbag codes myself next time (knock on wood).
