I'm not sure if anyone posted about this yet, but my 05 sedan driver seats makes a loud noise everytime it moves back after turning of the car. They work all the time and have full range of motion. Would I have to clean the motors or gears or something? Thanks for the help in advance.

 

Not really sure. I would start by thoroughly inspecting under the seats for something obviously loose or rolling around under it.

 

What kinda noise?

 

Its not a constant noise. it only happens when it starts moving back.

 

Take off the plastic covers around the base of the seat and inspect for anything loose on the threaded rod that pulls the seat forward/back. There's one on each side, you'll probably find something really loose on it just by visually inspecting it thoroughly.

 

Hmm that is one weird noise.

Spray some lube on the tracks. Then do what Cleric said.

 

I use those dry teflon sprays, you don't want anything greasy because it's just going to attract a bunch of dirt and cause problems later. The Liquid Wrench Dry Lubricant works really good.

 

I've taken a look under the seats and couldnt find anything. The weird thing is this noise only happens when the car automatically pulls the seats back. I've tried moving it all the way forward and backwards and no noise was made. I'll try scorpio's idea and see what happens.

 

Sorry for getting to this post so late, but I figured I'd give a definitive answer to your question hoping it may help others as well. The noise that you hear when you move your seats forward or back is caused by the plastic collar that holds the drive wire/gear mechanism. Over time, that piece is no longer held directly against the motor which causes it to vibrate violently on a minute scale, which in turn, causes the seat to sound like it's screaming! I'm sure a replacement part can be found, but I kind of cheaped out and zip tied a loop around the collar and placed two additional ties through the loop and around the plastic portion of the motor assembly cinching them tight as possible. This fix has worked for me for over a year so I never bothered trying to find a replacement part. Hope this helps in some way.

 

That's American ingenuity at work! I love baling wire and bubble gum fixes that stand the test of time. Very neatly and cleanly executed, too. Looks OEM!

I have also found that when doing this fix you may as well apply some thick lube to the actual gear box as well while you have the motor/ drive gear assembly off the seat. I used some, ahem, motorcycle chain lube that's thick and cancels lots of additional vibration within the gear assembly portion of the motor. (Both sides). As far as OEM, I think not, but your guys sarcasm is greatly appreciated.
