Thanks for the reply.

Yeah im still weighing my options. The headlights aftermarket i would buy would be these or something similar.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-2005-200...-/312142527504

But if i get a halo ring kit, it looks like the good decent brands are upwards of $200. My own headlights are ruined as i tried tinting them, but i had to scrape and cut it off after it peeled so it ruined the finish. Might still be saveable, but there are some deep scratches. Found a used set near me for $150. Also, i found a set of led bulbs which "might" work, as they advertise they function as drls and highbeams, but they are quite expensive at like $160+ shipping.

Quote:What's Included

LED Bulbs: 2x H4 Xtreme LED Pro
LED Drivers: 2x
Wiring: H4 Plug n Play
Warranty: 3 Years

Compatibility

Low Beams: H4 Only
High Beams: H4 Only
Daytime Running Lights: 4V-9V non-pulsed
Pulsed DRL: Add Optional PWM Harness

TECH SPECS

LED Emitters: 6x Philips Lumiled Z ES per bulb
Kelvin: 5500K
Intensity: 1750lm (raw; per bulb)
Input Range: 12-24V DC

So, thats where im undecided atm. If im iim spending close to $400 to open up a set of oem headlights and all the time it will take for the install, wiring and such....i may as well get aftermarket for around the same price and plug n play? Then again, i prefer oem parts to cheap aftermarket, so if i can get myself going with leds or halos for less than the set of aftermarkets that would be sick.

Any suggestions of halo ring brands or anything?

Pros and cons?

Thanks!

Go to Amazon. Search LED halo rings. Look for the ones with the high reciews and read what people say.

Thanks. In what way can they be hooked up so that they come on with drls, and shut off at nightime for the hids. Or would they be okay to stay on during the low beam/highbeams are on? Or would i wire it up to another 12v source.

And, how can i keep my halogen highbeams
working, while keeping the drls off so that only the halo rings run in the daytime.

Sorry for all the questions, never done this type of modding before, but i love my g!

Ill try searching for some diy threads.

Thanks

These are the aftermarket headlights I have on my car. I have it wired up so that the halos and LEDs come on when I turn the car on. They stay on at all times, even with the low beams and high beams on.

U can wire it up any way u want it to work. As long as any of the lights gets 12v power, it will turn on. Anything is possible, but u gotta figure out which wires to cut and which wires to tap into. Its not something thats easy to explain online. And since youve never done this kinda stuff, I would recommend u have someone next to u thats more familiar with wiring things up.

Where are u located? If youre around LA I can help u out.

Thanks! Been working on cars since high school, am 26 now. But wiring was never my expertise. Can definitely do it tho, just gotta know what to cut and splice and such.

I live in canada so its quite a ways away haha.

My major concern or question would be, how to keep the drl halogen off, but still be able to use the highbeam if i wire in the halos from another source.

Not sure if unplugging the drl module is an option, since on drl still functions like that.

I mean, i guess since my drls arent working with led bulbs anyways, i could just leave it as it is. Hopefully the 6V or whatever the drl module supplies to the drls/highbeams doesnt burn them out.

Thanks

It looks like the DRL control unit operates both the DRL’s and high beam operation. But it seems like there is a separate fuse in the IPDM that lets only the DRL power through. If u pull that fuse, I think your DRL’s will stop working, but the high beams should still function normally.

Give it a try and let us know what happens.

Thanks! Yeah, i stopped the order on the halos as i just found them a bit too pricey at $250.

I want the leds to work so im still actively looking for a way to see if they'll work as they look good imo.

But, if not, back to halogens is probably what ill end up doing.

Thanks!

Just modify the wiring to have them hooked up in parallel instead of series. Should work.

Well guys, i gave up.

Decided im just going to stick with halogens. Still want the white look, so i went with some phillips diamondvision bulbs off amazon. Waiting for em at the moment.

At least this way the leds leds wont blind other drivers either.

Seemed too complex for my ability to re-wire to get 12v constantly to the drls and then also having to figure out how to get them to switch off when the lowbeams are on. I didnt want to start cutting and chopping wires.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I have a couple questions for you. How is the fit on the ionic lip? I've been contemplating ordering one for a year now.

Exactly how does it hook up to the front bumper? I don't have the undershield on my sedan, and the two corner pieces that are attached to the wheel well plastic and the bumper are smashed up.

The fitment is great. It looks amazing. I do have one or two gaps but that was probably my fault. It is a quite pricey mod, so be sure you want to spend the money and keep the car for a while!

For fitment, two self tappers in each wheel well into the front bumper. Then 7 nuts and bolts into the bumper. It fits "in front" of your undershield. All hardware is given. Instructions for install should be given, but i didnt have any. Simply emailed and he sent me some a few days later. Basically, you dont need any of your "shields" because all the bolts/screws are into the bumper.

You have to drill holes underneath the bumper. I recommend a friend help hold it while you mark the holes because i didnt and the lip kept falling off and i made a couple mismeasurements.

Its fairly straightforward once you mock it up. I used tape as per their instructions to prevent scratches.
