Issues: JDM engine & tranny swap on 2003, G35, Sedan, AT

Hey everyone! Please help, I’m needing to get “Baron” back on the road after this JDM swap.

“Red Baron” History: 2003, G35, Sedan, 201K, AT, Rear Wheel. Been in the garage sitting with old engine bolted on after warping a head cruzing to ABQ. It has had no battery in it the past 5 years. Bad I know, but engines cost money and I refused to scrap it because it was awesome!

Problems:
1. It won’t even crank or start after JDM engine & tranny swap.

2. OBD II won’t connect or pull codes

3. The insidetemp gauge reads -22?

Work already completed:
1. JDM Engine and tranny hooked up to OLD wire harness and ecu (since the jdm harness was cut and no jdm ecu). The front end is still off with the radiator and headlight connectors not connected since we tried to crank and start as a test before putting it all back together.

2. JDM tranny installed had it’s guts removed and replaced with my old tranny’s 1-pin wire harness and TCM

3. New battery, starter, alternator, AC compressor on

4. Tested starter relay - READS 12.0 instead of 12.3?

5. Tested ignition switch - GOOD

6. Tested battery fuse link on the positive post, no broken fuses - GOOD

7. Tested ignition-switch-wires to IPDM - GOOD

8. Tested IPDM wires to starter - GOOD

9. Tested fuel pump, turning on - GOOD

10. The key turned to ACC powers windows, doors, radio and dash lights just fine.

11. New ground wire connected to negative post.

Questions:
1. What am I missing?
2. Could this be a bad IPDM?
3. Could this be a bad starter relay?
4. Could this be a dead ECU?

Thanks everyone and contributors!

Is the NATS indicator light solid red when trying to crank?

Fail to even crank if it's not voltage related it's NATS/IVIS (security) related usually. You might be in lockout mode.

Are you sure you reinstalled the engine bonding jumper? It is the large AWG wire that goes from the right side of the timing chain cover to the chassis directly under the coolant reservoir. That's the ground wire for the engine and it probably won't crank without it since.

Do you have 12vdc on the big wire for the starter?

Can you hear the relay click when you turn the key to start? It's pretty faint so it helps if you have a second person turn the key while you listen at the IPDM.

Hey Cleric, thanks for the reply. Sorry, your reply went to my junk mail and didn’t see it until now. I went through your recommendations, when I went to crank it the red security light stayed on. How do I get it out of lock mode?

I tried turning the key to ON for 5 seconds and off for 5 seconds multiple times per the Inifinit manual but same results. I had a key reprogrammer come out, they connected to the G35’s OBD port, received power from the OBD but couldn’t connect with the system. I’ve tried connecting an OBD scanner to it as well, it receives power but doesn’t connect to the vehicle. Could this be because of a bad ECU or bad OBD port?

To answer your other questions, the IPDM relay does click when trying to start it. Also, I’ve enclosed pictures of the grounding wires to see if there is something I’m missing. Tested those connections with a ground light and everything lit up.

Can’t see but positive terminal connected to starter and alternator underneath

Negative battery terminal
