I have the stock stereo and it sounds pretty good, but I'm wondering if I should do some upgrades. Any suggestions on speakers? Anyone drop an amp in for a little more kick?

If they sold the stock speakers at a Car Audio dealer, what price range do you think they would fall in?

With the exception of rear speakers, the Sedan And Coupe setups are IDENTICAL for audio.

Seriously, paper cone Claion components are not worth much.

at the stereo place where I got my windows tinted, the installer said no go on speaker replacements. He said Bose speakers have their own amp on each speaker. since the head unit doesn't put out the wattage, it wouldn't be compatible with aftermarket speakers. The guy said there were a few other things that made it impossible.

i changed out my front door speakers. both the tweeter and the midrange. gave much better highs after that. to me the bass is good enough...but then again i'm not that young anymore. it was just the highs that were severly lacking.

You should check your trunk in case he left his crack pipe in there when he installed your tint.

I have the Bose system and I was thinking about replacing the 8 or 10 inch bose sub in the back of the car to a JL W3 v2. I think it will double the bass.

I started my research about a week after I got my car (I have the Bose stereo) and it took me close to 2 months to finally decide on all the stuff (I'm new to car audio so I wanted to make sure I was getting the most "bang for the buck"). I'm really happy with everything!

I think just switching out the front components makes a huge difference (you should be able to find good ones for about $200, about $350 and you can get pretty nice ones). A lot of people have been happy just switching out the tweeters (probably about $60-$100 on average).

If you want to add an amp, I think you need to switch out the stock speakers...not sure what the power handling is on the stock speakers, but I read somewhere that they have a weird impedance (at least for the Bose)?

i've been searching the a/v forum for quite sometime. you'll notice that people started showing up, trying to help and offering bose information. i've had the same problem, someone is really giving me some great advice, and then they say "just mount the amp in relation to the bose amp" and i realize i have a different head unit, different wiring harness, different wiring diagrams, different speaker sizes (rear), and sometimes they have a coupe and give the wrong sizes all together. it's nice that eveyone is trying to help, but i agree with the above statement about seperating the threads by sedan/coupe and possibly bose/stock as well to help others refine there search and advice.

that said... if you want to remain kind of stock, but get a better sound, you can upgrade just the speakers ($100 - $200 per set), and look into the 4080 subwoofer box for sedan, include a sub, amp, and an inline converter for remote power. that and $1000 later, and your set.

hope this helps. as far as recommended speakers for f/r? not sure. this is all personal preference.
