Unfortunately, no TL's (or Pacers) in the garage.... Just the wifey's A6 and my "heap", as she calls it.

I think I've mentioned this to you before, Tony, but I feel your pain. I was soured on all American cars by a single '88 Olds Calais Quad 4 5MT. The dissatisfaction was so great, the disillusionment so large that I can't envision ever buying another GM, Ford or Chrysler again. Which is totally unfair to Ford and Chrysler, since they didn't have anything to do with the piece of fecal matter GM sold me. But it is what it is.
Good luck, and I'm sorry about your bad experience with Nissan and Infiniti.
Hey, glad I could provide a little humor! It is only a car, after all, not a life-threatening illness, natural disaster, etc.Originally Posted by JKWright

My Windows creak and the seat is not comfortable. The engine is the best I have ever owned.
You know, that really sums it up. (Well, except for the "I like the car" and "The engine is the best I have ever owned" parts). My tranny and bag-of-bolts front end are the obvious, glaring issues, but all the niggling little items everyone complains about (uncomfortable seats, poor stereo, cheap interior materials, orange dash, rattles, etc., etc., etc. just scream strippo economy car, NOT $39K near-luxury performance car.Originally Posted by rwm1163

Sorry to hear how much you hate your car.
I've owned three generations of nissan maximas prior to my G and this is definitely a step up in style, performance and quality. Is it Mercedes quality? Of course not, but I only paid $35K, not $60K.
Bottom line, if you're that unhappy, sell it. Don't sit around crying in your beer for the life of the loan. I wouldnt care if I took a $5-7K loss. That would be worth not getting all pissed off every time I crawled in the car.

Dumping it the night I picked it up would have probably cost $8-9K for a few hours; an awfully expensive rental.
Now it's down to $1500/month, which is approaching normal rental car rates.
I guess I'm just trying to find the sweet spot that balances the "pissed off every drive" with the cost, and wondering why I have to pay for Nissan's putting this thing out the door.

OK...we'll at least I know your legit. You are by far the unhappiest G owner I've seen on this board board that I can remember. My G ran me 29K since the sunroof is my only option and I find the car a bargin compared to some other cars in its price range.Originally Posted by tonyplat

3.5 Altima (boring interior/FWD)
IS 300 (slow)
1.8T A4 (electrical gremlins)
So has the Audi caused you any problems? I'd sell the G and move on....

I agree 100% with the above post. I'm in the car business, and I see people like you every day, unfortunately. Cars are not perfect. Cars are made my human beings...and we are faulty creatures. Why did Infiniti let your car pass quality control? I can't say, but every manufacturer does it once in a while. Is your car a lemon? I seriously doubt it, from what you have said. Your problems are many and they irritate you, but they are far from what would constitute a "lemon". The fact of the matter is...you hate your car, and have a gigantic case of buyer's remorse.
With all the factory rebates going on right now, and the fact that auto sales are not exactly great at the moment, your opportunity to trade the car with minimal damage has never been better...no matter who the manufacturer is. My advice to you is the same...trade it or sell it. There is no use being pissed off every time you drive it, and then letting this post go on another ten-pages. Will you take a loss...yes. Will it ruin you financially...I doubt it. Buy something that you really like, have researched to your satisfaction, and can fit into your particular budget. Then, you will enjoy your car and can justify the past loss, chalking it up to lessons-learned.

Well said. A large majority of G35 owners (I would hope) are financially secure enough to take a hit of a few grand and move on in this situation. I feel for people less fortunate than me who save and scrimp to buy that $15K new car -- maybe a Kia or Hyundai -- and drive it off the lot to watch it fall to pieces and spend countless days in the dealer service bay, sans luxury perks such as loaner cars.Originally Posted by davistld01

With an Audi and an Infiniti in the garage, count yourself as lucky man even with your unhappiness with the G. The situation could be so much worse. I'll bet in a crowd of 100 people I could nab at least 60 who'd be thrilled to inhereit your, ah, "heap."

I hate my car but it's mostly because it had to be 4 doors (kids) and an automatic (wife needed to drive it) and then we got a minivan. I don't want 4 doors and I hate automatics but I hate the blood bath I'll take on a trade in even more

Man, I am just the opposite, I wanted a sedan instead of the coupe, I had struggled with the wide doors of my Mustang GT, real pain for me getting in and out, I have to get the door open all the way, and if someone parked too close, it was extremely difficult for me to get in, also, I really have no choice with the AT, it's too unsafe for me to drive an MT. I've grown to enjoy an AT vehicle!Originally Posted by alderran
