Top speed in a G

I was heading back to office at lunch and there was a nice stretch of highway with no traffic. I was running at about 65 when I hit the gas and next thing I knew I was doing 100. To be honest, it felt like I was still doing 65....car felt very solid. So what is the top speed of the G? If you've run the car past 100, how did it feel?

My search seems to indicate that the 5AT, at least on the sedan, has a limit of 145MPH.

The 155 is probably the 6MT.

harley01 sorry but the g35 isnt a very "quiet" car on the inside...I dont know how you can feel like you are going 65 when you are doing 100 shy of driving on the smooth surface of the autobahn (I'm comparing the car with previous cars I've owned/driven)

Maybe because the two other cars I've topped 100 in were a Miata and a GT Mustang convertible...they were both much louder and less stable at 100.

Try a 2k2 maxima aka leaf blower with the amount wind noise coming from the windows. Otherwise I loved the car.

The G35 is definitely the quietest car I have ever owned.

Here's the list:
1961 Mercury Meteor (my Granny's car and my first, totaled it)
1969 Fiat 850 spider (used, cool little car 817cc/49 hp, had 5 girls in it once)
1964 MGB (used, one of my faves, the girls loved this one, Red with wire wheels)
1969 Chev Impala (used, traded the MG, big mistake!)
1970 Toyota Corolla SW (new, my wifes car, good service, crappy two speed trans.)
1977 Fiat X 1/9 (Our first NEW car, great looks, great handling, no hp, hell to work on, rusted away)
1981 (I think) Honda Accord 5sp (new, first fwd car, what a trip, quiet, rusted away)
1980 Ford F-100 (Used, three on the tree)
1985 Pontiac Parisienne (New, good piece of Detroit Iron, 23 mpg on hi way!)
1970 Chev Monte Carlo (Used, 400ci Big Block, headers, tunnel ram, Hollie 750)
1988 Ford Aerostar minivan (New, best Truck for a family, holds anything!)
1990 Ford Aerostar minivan (New, wish I had both back)
1992 Ford Windstar (New, nice ride, no room)
1996 Chrysler Sebring Conv. (New, ate brakes like candy, youngest daughter totaled)
1998 Chrysler Sebring Conv. (New, blood red!, fun to drive, terrible handling)
2001 Chev Silverado Crew Cab HD1500 (Big Bertha, 12 mpg, loved this truck!)
2005 g35 sedan (everything I have ever wanted in a car)

I know there was more but it's a little fuzzy.

Also had:
1975 HONDA 550 four
1977 DUCATI Dharma 900
1977 MOTOGUZZI 1000 G5

The infinity emblem etched in granite will make a nice gravestone for
you ... just a matter of time before your 100+ mph outings will lead
to perma-rest ---

Do you own a G35 with a top speed over 145 or do yo own a Geo Metro? What exactly is your above statement supposed to mean?

Why do you buy a car like this if you don't "open er up" once and a while.

Like I said there was no traffic anywhere. We're talking a 3 lane highway about a a mile before it ends and branches off towards another highway. The other times I was out in the country with friends at the end of a very long straightaway. We would actually flash our lights when there was not traffic approaching beforw we started our run. I've only topped 100 on a few occasions and make sure no one else is a risk if I do. Oh yeah, I have been up to 100 once on the Harley but have no plans to do that again...too many bad thoughts ran through my mind.
