"Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

Yesterday, while on my way home, I got a chance to witness the arrogance that some of you have stated about coupe, and to a lesser extent, Z owners. However,my buddy has a hooked up 350Z and displays none of this attitude. Anyway on my route home this guy in a red 350Z pulls (chrome rims, dropped) up along side, and does the get on the gas but can't go anywhere because there are cars in front of him thing. Basically, he wants me to see his Z. I looked over and acknowledged, but he offers the tilt of the head - I'm rollin a Z look. Whatever, I say to myself, and I merge to the right most lane, he jumps in front of me, and ends up the first car at the light in the lane. More signs of arrogance, he's doing the clutch-in, clutch-out thing (roll back, roll forward). Light changes, he takes off, I'm on his *** like a pitbull in one of those old cartoons, I was able to jet around him and pull in front of him in another lane at about 40mph, when we came up on another light. This time he was able to line up beside me,the route ahead is clear and free of any cars. I didn't turn VDC off, I didn't "brake torque", however I did turn off the AC. Light turns green I'm off and so is he. Although, he was trying to shift as best he could, I'm watching him in my left mirror, the best he could do was pull to my back door at about 70mph, at which point I let off as my turn off was approaching. I wouldn't have gone any faster than that on a street anyway. I look over, guess what Mr. Z is now real interested in the scenery on the left side (I was on the right).

Just as many of you have said, under the right circumstances a 5AT will embarrass a great many cars. Next time I will take it the track

peace and be safe.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

No need for me to fabricate I also have driven both, and as I mentioned a friend of mine has one fully modded, stillen exhaust, Jim Wolf intake, cross drilled, etc. I know both cars pretty well. You can beleive what you want to. But the driver of the "Z" knows he got his @$$ handed to him. Of course with more time and space I'm sure the advantages of a manual tranny and more horsepower would have proven superior. However, on the date in question - It wasn't happening buddy. I am not scared of a "Z' in the least bit.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

Since our Gcoupe friends are so adept at quoting magazine road tests I shall do likewise:
Road & Track:
G35 Sedan 0-60 6.2 sec.1/4 mile 14.7@95.2
Z 0-60 5.8 sec. 1/4 mile 14.4@99.7

Motor Trend:
G35 Sedan 0-60 6.51 sec. 1/4 mile 14.68@97.08
Automobile Magazine:
Z 0-60 5.6 sec. 1/4 mile 14.2@97.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

Here we go with the "dusty" magazines again - LOL

My friend "real world" situations are significantly different from the times you may find in the periodicals. As you know those tests are usually averaged after several runs are made - with the best times used as the numbers for the final results.

On the street you usually only get "one" run - that's it "Finito"

So if you get caught slippin, prepare to go back to referencing your test results - while scratching your head (asking what happened) at your local Starbuck's

If you expect that these test results will always be the bible you are crudely mistaken.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

I agree with the "dusty mags" comment. Now cross post your opinion to "How could anyone buy a Z" thread in the Coupe forum since the posters there swear by the mags.BTW,my Z is Pikes Peak White.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

We all know that all three cars are related - sedan/coupe/Z. It's about preferences. I like the Stock coupe (sport pack) vs. the Stock Z. However, If you handed me the keys to both the Z (nicely optioned) and the coupe I would be stuck at Starbuck's myself. However, when you modify a Z in the right way, you don't have to go overboard with the Aero Kit crazy, air dam, etc. Simply put the car looks hot when done right.

I like all the FM cars and respect them all. I happen to like my sedan with the AeroKit, when I get done with the right mods it will be a stunner in it's own right. I'm not talking heavy chrome 20's either. I'm concerned about weight so something light is what I'm after. Example: Enkei GTV or the Ray's G-Games 2 piece rim.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

Like I said ,I love my sedan but it's a lease and can't do much to it.My nephew bought a 330i instead of the G sedan and now regrets it when he felt the power of the G.The rumble of the VQ is unlike any V6 sedan I've driven, feels like a small block V8.

Re: "Z" -what I'm saying? Not!

You were talking about me. I am the one who bitches about coupe owners. I have met many that are cool but there are some a$$es out there. And on't an auto make a stick look like a fool I love the game I can shift faster, you can't pull revs, you down shift slow. Keep talkin' the street proves it. The stick is not an all out winner. Glad you had fun an don't worry about the track just keep it clean!
