sedan fire...

this is more of a FYI.
i work for a construction equipment company, and we have an insurance / fire inspector that inspecs our ( does cars as well )equipment that catches on fire. well anyways he saw my coupe in the parking lot @ my work and was telling me that he just came from palm beach and a g35 sedan caught on fire under the hood and was asking if there were any recalls. i mentioned the fuel pump but this was under the hood, so he asked if he could take pictures of my engine compartment to compare to see what may have caused the fire. well from what he said it could of not been a fuel fire, that it looks like the power steering fluid burned up along with the windshield washer fluid, but he couldn't see what could of sparked the flame, so i mentioned the HID headlights and a light bulb went off and he is investigating the light now to see if that was it. just thought you all would like to know just in case this may turn into a TSB or recall.

Re: sedan fire...

This is the first I have heard of any fire issue with the G.
Let's hope this is not an issue, and only an isolated case.

Re: sedan fire...

Windshield washer fluid is flammable? And here I thought it was just soapy water. I'm skeptical...

Re: sedan fire...

I almost purchase some rain-X type product that is made to use in the windshield washer reservoir. UNTIL ... I read the warning label ... extremely flammable use only in well-ventilated area. Yes the engine compartment is well-ventilated at 60 mph. It is not while parked in your garage. I do not think I will be using that product.

Re: sedan fire...

my guess is a fire inspector wiill see ANYTHING can catch on fire. I won't worry about my G35 unless there are many cases reported.
