Loud in what way? Mine is only heard under acceleration (hard).
Otherwise it is wisper quiet. Never loud per se. I love the
roar when I step on the gas!

From my experience test driving 03.5's two of them plus the car I bought versus 4 different 03 loaners... they changed something to make the car more agressive sounding. It doesn't take much to get my car howling

Take your foot off that long black pedal on the right!!!
LOL!
(seriously - if you think you have a problem, go back to the dealer and have him rev/idle another 04 next to yours. As my college always said, compare and contrast)

I bet you have a auto, I had a same complaint about it when I got mine, specially driving around 40 mph/2000rpm on local, people said it's sports characteristics. I came from a Nissan Max manual, it took me serveral months to get used to it and Honda accrod is well known for its quiet engine.

It's a new ride, bro and a mighty fine one at that. You'll have to get used to the new 'song'.
The loud engine noise is prolly a conbination of exhaust, and fan/drivetrain noise. Quite normal (and melodious) -- enjoy.
It would naturally be louder than an accord, I would say much louder (and much better) LOL.
Enjoy,

Re: loud engine noise??!!
we also got our 04 sedan yesterday.
when we started it up today, it did seem pretty loud and this is below 3k rpm. driving around also... it just seems slightly louder.
I dont think the 03 we drove earlier was this loud. do any other 04's also feel that it is louder than the 03.
