Hit a curb

I backed into a curb last night, 04 G35x. There is some slight damage to the lower rear bumper cover (the black unpainted part) and I bent the exhaust tips. I already removed the tips and want to buy new ones. Anyone know how much these cost or a good source to buy from besides the dealer? What about a rear bumper cover? Can I buy one that's already painted and have the dealer install it in a day? I'd rather not tie the car up if unnecessary. What are my options if I decide to install an aftermarket rear muffler?

Most importantly, do I tell the wife? It's her daily driver and she probably wouldn't notice if I didn't say anything.

Thanks in advance all.

LOL . . . The first thing you should do is to tell your wife of the incident. Why not?

+1 you'll probably face more wrath if/when she finds out you covered it up! :P

Wow--it is normally the wife doing the damage and the guy complaining.

Wow--were you backing up really fast--that seems strange. Just tell her and get it fixed.

Nah, not fast at all, just rolling luckily. It was a high curb apparently or maybe a retaining wall. The damage is barely noticeable.

We have no secrets between us but she's been in a p*ssed off mood lately in general. I'll tell her..tomorrow LOL.

Please her in some way consistently throughout the day--(no, not just limited to THAT ) first--then tell her the next day.

Dude blame it on her "Honey what did you do to your car?" and wait for her reaction.

exactly - its her car! Then see how fast you can drive off in the car when she chases you out with a broom

I can't understand why people can't talk to their spouses openly. If I couldn't tell my wife anything, I'd rather be single.

Sorry dude...I don't mean to sound rude but WTF is wrong with you? tell her...it's just a car. Why are you so affraid? Repair it and move on.

I'm with Chico on that. You gotta talk to your wife openly. If you hide stuff like this, what happens when you really screw up?

RELAX everyone...it was just a joke. I did think about blaming her though LOL. Like I said, we have no secrets, we've been together for almost 20 yrs. and yes, it is only a car. I've been through a lot the past five years so this really means nothing in the scheme of things. I told her sat nite and she couldn't have cared less. The only thing I was concerned about was the questions that followed.

"when did it happen?"

me: "uhh, on the way home"

"so you were DRUNK?"

You get the idea. Anyway, I’ve gone over it, called Infiniti for pricing, etc. I don’t think I’m gonna replace the bumper cover b/c it seems like too much trouble and those things never match, etc. New twin exhaust tips are going to cost about $100 so I think I may go for an aftermarket muffler instead. I think the muffler is bent anyway. Is the rear muffler a hard DIY job? What do you all recommend? Stillen/HKS? I don’t want anything too loud (it is her car after all).

I’m also thinking of using this as an opportunity to throw on a bodykit and some rims finally. It would cover the damaged area perfectly as it’s just along the black plastic part along the bottom. The Wald kit looks awesome, anyone know a good source for one?

Thanks for all the advice fellas.
