Do I have to reset my ECU?

I just installed my Stillen Gen 2 Cat Back on my 05 AT. The question is ...should I reset my ECU? or will it "learn" the new exhaust on it's own? Also, I heard that the exhaust will "mellow" in sound over time...is this true? Thanks

I didn't reset after I had mine installed. As far as the sound, I don't perceive any difference over time.

Re-setting the ECU isn't really necessary, as it will adapt over time. It may help you notice the difference a bit faster, after installing a mod.

I was told to re-set the ECU just before installing any mod, drive for a bit, then do it again after, and do the same thing. That way you know it's the mod that actually makes the difference, or if it's just the ECU re-set that's compensating for a sluggish driving style.
