Thoughts on the clear bra?

What do those of you having experience with the clear bra think of it?

It is not cheap, but does it really save the paint on the front bumper and edge of hood?

Also, does it fade or does it look obvious that there is a bra on the car as time goes by?

Thanks

See these two threads for more info on the 3M chipguard:

I had the dealer get together with their guys and put the chipguard on my G35x - I'll report a bit more when I give it a close-up inspection Friday afternoon!

Love it, and my 3M is guaranteed not to fade, discolour or bubble.

It stops the majority of debris damange on the front end that eventually makes it look like it was sandblasted.....

Worth every penny....

I thought about it, but my Nissan has about 140k, and only has 9 chips on it. I was thinking that $700+ would prevent 9 chips, not worth it to me. The other thing is I heard it's better to go to someone off the 3M site, not the dealer, because the dealer farms it out anyway. I called one guy and he told me I'd leave him my car with him for 2 days (supposedly he'd take 4 hours to do it, check it after 8, and check it the next day). Are you kidding me? I'm going to leave a car with 10-50 miles with some stranger for 2 days??? That's stupid.....

Love it - have had it on my Maxima for three years, and Nissans have paint like play-doh... The ONLY chip under the bra was a rock that hit hard enough to actually dent the hood

I think of it this way. It doesn't look as nice as a perfect hood without the bra; but since there's no way the hood will stay perfect without it, having the bra and no rock chips is a close second.

After seeing the front my 03 Sedan after three years of driving, I will not be without a clear bra on my 07.

Same here! I had them put it on mine but having them redo it because they left too much of a gap in a couple of places and sure enough I already got this small ding and where? Right where the gap is.

I second this Shane, after a year and 4 months, the only chip on my car is one that was there before I had the 3M put on the bumper, I recommend having applied ASAP after buying the new car!

There are lots of manufactures other than 3M as well. I had both my 03 & 05 done for $450 Candian $ at Zeibart & they did the hood, the front bumper, the headlights, the top of the roof in front of the sunroof, the mirrors & the top of the rear bumper in case you pull something (like my kids hockey bag) out & it bangs on the bumper.

With the film protectent no chips at all.

Yes you can see a bit but looks better than a car with stone chips.....& you can take it off later.

The product they put on is from Bekaert & called ClearShield. The warranty is 5 years against crack, peel or bubble, won't discolor, will remain optically clear.

I park indoors at work & home so it does not see much sun.

The website is www.clearsheild.com

I know there is lots of others as well out there but all the reserach I did was the most important thing was a qualified installer as these take a lot of work & practice to master. I tried my wife's van myself & it was a disaster that I had to remove as soon as I tried putting it on & that was just the hood.....

I have the "transparent bra" - 2nd car with it. The best addition if you ask me. Well, I also like my exhaust.

I have had a Ventureshield clearbra for over a year now. I absolutely love it. I will never own another car without it. The front of my car looks as good as the day I drove it off the show room floor.
