STILLEN EXHAUST - installed... but..

So yesterday, my shop went down to Stillen and picked me up an exhaust from them.

this is for the 07' sedan.

The exhuast FIT perfectly.. they even gave you new OEM Nissan Gaskets for the install. It was fairly easy, took my guys about an hour to install the whole thing.

Then, i started it up.

The sound: The sound is really deep. I dont know if i like this sound cause it is kind of loud. I didnt expect it to be that loud, maybe just throaty but not loud. IT is indeed loud but only at low RPMs. At high RPMs, it quiets down.

Drone: There is no drone whatsoever when driving on the freeway about 60mph.. However, you deal w/ some drone when driving with traffic around 40mph.. but if you are really easy on the gas, it can go away too!

Overall: I think that this exhaust is okay. I think it might be a little overpriced but iono, i like how it fit good and also looks perfect w/ the car. But the only thing that i dont like is its loudness.

It sounds okay when driving normal. But when driving FAST or reving HIGH RPMS then shift, it SOUNDS AMAZING..

ill try to get some pics and also some sound clips up also next week.

Thanks Guys!

o yea, and i called stillen and asked HP gains, THEY said they only got 9whp.. so yea..

Stillen is going to be one of the most quiet aftermarket exhaust on the market.

I would say 9hp is right on the money. I wouldnt need a dyno sheet to believe that number.

9hp or 9 Whp??? he said they claimed 9WHP.....yes, 9bhp is believable, but 9WHP, to me, is pushing it. no sense in arguing anything right now....

Is the sound as noticeable with the stereo on?
Also, what if you were to have longer resonators installed? Shouldn't that lower the noise levels?

Seems like the total opposite of the current Stillen exhaust for the coupe.

Be careful

I installed a Stillen cat back on my old 2003 G35 Sedan and it was WAY louder than I expected. I used to creep out of my neighborhood at 5 MPH in order to avoid scaring children and rattling my neighbors' windows. If I do it with my new 2007 G35 Sport (6MT, Premium, Nav, Tech), I'll make sure I get a WAV file or hear it somewhere before I install it. It annoyed me during hard acceleration and was kind of embarrassing, frankly. My neighbor has installed custom exhaust systems on all 3 of his cars (M3, NSX and FX45) and I can tell you that everyone in the neighborhood knows when he is on the road. I appreciate the objective (HP gains), but ya gotta be careful with the decibel level you're unleashing on the general public. Wow, I'm starting to sound like my father. Scary.

Go to this Thread started By John 2.5! he put the same Stillen Exhaust on a couple days ago I think, and he made a Sound Clip of it on Page 4 I think It's on, then you can get an Idea of how the Stillen System sounds.

heeeeellll no! Gotta get an exhaust that's as loud as possible! I mean, that's by far the main point of an exhaust, to make the car sound as GOOD and as loud as possible...for me, anyway
