2007 G35x

Technology Package
Navigation Package
Premium Package
Splash Guards

37,500 before tax, registration fees, etc.

I was offered this from two dealerships today. Too bad both want to pay nothing for my trade-in.

Hey Nahmeanz, I would still try and negotiate it more...I got the same exact set-up as you did minus the splash gaurds and I picked it up this week for $36,800 before tax & tags ($38,750 OTD). So I think you can still ask for $500 more off and be able to get it with a firm stance.

My dad just pressured the salesman and bombarded him with figures/quotes which we received from other dealerships (and EXAGERATED big time). For example, from dealership #2 we got a quote for $2400..however we went back to the dealership which we liked and told him that we got a quote for $3000...
Oh so your dad's just a good liar, that's all, didn't really have to do with negotiating an honest deal.
At least we cleared that up.

Excuse me you have no right to call my father a liar. How many dealerships did you go when you bought your car? Did you tell each salesman the exact price from each dealership? I doubt it. You want to get the BEST deal out there. There's nothing wrong at all with what my father did. Dealerships NEVER give you the best deal but try to emphasize they are. We found out their list price for the G35x fully loaded is approx. $46,000CAD and so we tried to get as close to that figure as possible. You always have to play offensive. But I really don't care to argue with you since I'm 16 and rather spend my time studying then arguing with an ignorant person

And those figures which I quoted weren't exact, it was just to get the point across.

I took the $37,500...

it was the only dealership that offered me as much as $9,000 for my 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK430. The next highest offer I got was $6,500.

Has anyone done a comparison between walking into the dealer and getting a price versus using a VPP Plan D? I've been working with a dealer over time (I'm rarely in town and have to use e-mail or visit on weekends only) and am not sure if using the VPP is a good deal relative to not using the VPP.

2007 G35X, Premium, Splash Guards and Cargo Net:
Invoice: USD $33,220 (give or take a few $10)
MSRP: USD $36,990.
Pretax USD $34,188

Add in the 'doc' fee (grrr...), taxes and registration --> 36,702.
As I understand it, once VPP comes into the equation, the price isn't negotiable.

Why dont you just negotiate the best deal you can. If it does not get you very far, you can hit him with the VPP angle.
The more stock the dealer has of your package, the more likely he will deal.

It is seeming like the dealers have come to the realization that the early adopter market has been filled.

I was at a dealership in downtown Chicago on Friday from 11am-4pm, and was the only customer the entire time. No one even there for test drives or anything.

You indicate $37500 OTD??? Does this really also include NJ 7% sales tax, 4 yr. registration fees?

Oh sorry about that, it is OTD for me, but that wouldnt include if you had to pay tax or registration for the vehicle.
