I am not saying that $700 over is not a good price. i'll pay that right now if anyone could find me a car that i could take home today, and not 2 month from now.

Maybe you like paying MSRP for your cars, But i think that i will stick with the majority on this forum and try to save a few more bucks on a $40k car.

I must have missed where I said I like to pay MSRP. It's a 40k car with a 3k markup. I would rather the dealers not deeply discount. Dealer discounting has a ripple effect. Resale values go down on a par with the average discount. If all I'm going to do is save a couple grand on a 40 k purchase it seems hardly worth alot of work. I have better things to do with my time--like driving my new car!

Hmm, I just had another dealer quote me $732 over invoice at Gwinnett near ATL for my car. But I would have to travel 800 miles to get it. Either that or pay $600 more and travel 300 miles to get it. I think I will patiently wait until the end of the month...

LOL. save a couple grand seems hardly worth alot of work!
You must be loaded. What is the point of this thread if saving
couple grand is no big deal?

Because I see the value in and enjoy driving the car.

I agree to that statement, why bother, if you can get a deal go for it if not then so be it.

You can be in a money making or money saving mode, not both so enjoy the ride.

What further evidence do you need to see the car with tech is in short supply? If dealers are telling you the ones they have are already allotted to other paying customers, the few that remain will command a price premium, in your market.

I don't have an exact number with me right now, but I know I paid $1500 over the invoice. My car is G35S AT with Premium, Nav package.

$900 over invoice. no free oil changes, warranties or accessories.
just a pure vehicle. wasn't able to find a dealer who's willing to bid the price.

Sometimes it is worthwhile buying at the begining of the month.

I bought mine on Feb 5. I used the internet quote system on Edmunds.com
using a 50 mile radius. I got flooded with call and emails. But after all said and done, Santa Monica Infiniti came in over $1,000 less than any of the other dealers. I got the 2007 G35 journey w/ premium pkg for invoice! They told me that Infiniti allows only 2 cars to be sold for invoice each month per region and I got one of them.

Ironically, the actual car was a inter-dealer exchange from one of the dealers that quoted me $1,200 higher.

That is so bad. My price from Santa Monica was actually $500 more than the lowest I found. Didn't like the Sales Manager's attitude, so I would have not bought the car even if I was offered the invoice price. I can say this now because I wasn't offered one.

Cool

Just bought a G35x two days ago in Southern California for $400 above invoice. It was fully loaded with premium, nav, and tech. I can't beat the other guy that got it for invoice price but I think it was a good deal overall.
