I-Key - how to remove clip?

First off, I just picked up my g35x last night and so far i love it.

I wanted to remove the clip from my ikey, but turning the screw doesn't seem to do anything. Has anyone been able to remove it and if so, how?

Thanks,
Mike

It is NOT a screw that is in there .... it needs an Allen Wrench (Hex Key) ....

Hopefully you didn't strip the hex head by using the screw !

Although I don't have an allen wrench small enough, i do have a screw driver that fit and was able to turn it, but no matter how many times i turned it, it still stayed in the same spot. Maybe the threads are stripped. I will try my other key.

Thanks,
Mike

Looks like it needs something with a hex head - could be screw driver with the right bit in it.

I used a small allen key and it came right out. There should be a allen key that will fit in any set you buy, but keep in mind that it's probably metric.

Why would you want to remove the clip? I thought it was pretty cool with "INFINITI" on it. It is an "exclusive" for us. Look at the Altima; you don't even get a clip.

Clip takes up valuable "real estate" in your pocket ...... I for one don't have any keys attached to the said clip .... so its easier just removing it

I took mine off as well as soon as I got it. It came right off with a small allen key. It looks nice but its too stiff and it feels weird holding it. I use the keychain that came with the owners manual.

I had mine removed for the same reason when I used to keep my i-key together with my cell phone separated from my other keys. Due to recent news that cell phone calls could potentially cause a problem with my i-key I have elected to put the clip back on and keep it with the rest of my keyring.

Did both of your intelligent keys come with clips? When I bought my car it only came with one and they said they would get me another one - which they did, however the 2nd one doesn't have the clip. I asked why and they said it's not supposed to and if I wanted one, it costs $50. WTF? 36k for a car and they can't even give me a $50 clip?

I like the clip because it lets me separate the key from all my other keys. That way when I go to the valet he gets the car key and that's that.

Not that he will, but he COULD potentially make some copies of keys I don't want him having

The clips that came on both I-keys are tinted different colors to help you quickly identify one from the other ... handy if you use one key and your spouse uses the other.
