Thumbs up just wanna say it's damn good car!

Hey, guys!

I just got my journey about a week ago, and I am really happy with it. I simply love this car, man.

I had '00 C230 Kompressor and then '04 E320 (well... I am a huge fan of Mercedes). Those cars had been really great with me but didn't give me as much of satisfaction and impression as G is giving me. can't be better than this...

BTW, guys! give me some opinions about oil-change.

1. At what mileage shoud I get the first oil-change?
(Well, I did like when it was at 1,000, but some people say that I have to
get the first oil-change at 500... what do you think?)

2. Which engine oil do you recommend? Should I just go to dealer? How much do dealders ask for the oil change? My dealer only told me that the first oil change is free.

Ok, enjoy your rides and have a great day!

Hey - congrats on the new G... I'm a big Infiniti fan (as my sig will attest) - I think you're going to be hooked!
As for oil changes, I'd go the recommended period (about 3500) - some say it's "special oil" for new engines... I say - just do what they recommend.
I think it's $30 for an oil change at the dealer. Pretty good price and you can keep all the service info in the Infiniti system.

Anyhow, congrats again, and welcome to g35driver.com!

Congrats!

I'd recommend you stick to the manufacturer schedule and have your first oil change performed at 3750miles.

CONGRATS! I'm right there with you - I've had my car 10 days and 19 hours. Or so. I'm not keeping count or anything. ;-) Awesome machine!

I'm going to follow the dealer specs and will probably go synthetic Mobil 1. I'd like to use Amsoil but not many, if any, quick oil change places use it here. I'd have to go to a shop and they'd want to keep it for an hour or so, and I don't have time to do that. I used Mobil 1 in my last car and never had any problems.

Welcome to the club!

Well, I was very impressed with E-Class's seat position and the comfort it gave me. Also the steering feel when I turn at low speed.

Anyways, I also fell in love with G35 few days ago.

I did my first oil change at 1,500km with regular oil, I plan to put Mobil1 @ 6,000km or 12,000km. I am at 2,600km right now.

i like to do the first oil change early, and then follow whatever schedule you choose. i changed my break-in oil at 1000 miles and will follow the 7500 mile schedule using synthetic oil from Amsoil.

it's a good habit to change the break in oil because it is likely to be infused with more metal fragments and "flash" shavings than all future fills. i like to get those particulates out of the oil pan as early as possible. yes, most of these get trapped by the filter, but then that just means the filter is imposing that much more of a pressure drop than usual.

Thank you so much for your comments and opinions!! You really help me a lot to decide! Neway, I was just asking to check what kinda things people in their G35s do to keep up their engines in even more optimized condition. So please don't feel bad about me being lazy and all that...

BTW, you people here are really great. Thanks again!
