Everytime I get into and start my car, the seat, wheel, etc all adjust to the settings on my key. But as soon as I grab the steering wheel to pull out of my garage(or parking space, or wherever I am) the steering wheel has this ever so slight click, where it literally feels like it just wasn't quite fully engaged and as soon as I put some pressure on it it pops right into place. Its very slight...but no doubt noticeable.

Has anybody else ever felt this?

I remember reading something like this but the problem was more severe.

A pull on the wheel and it would "clunk" into place...

Yes, I think I've noticed that with my G too. Slight pressure kinda pulling down as I back out of the garage...very slight "click". Afterwards it's rock solid.

Yes, there's another thread - ah, Calsonic found it. Long story short, quite a few of us have it, dealer replaced one steering column, my dealer checked a few other cars and found the exact same thing, so called it normal. I'm okay with this because a) once it locks there's no movement, and b) it's not changing over time.

ye i have the same thing rite now, it started recently for me. As long as it doesn't get worse im ok with it

I got it too.... been meaning to ask and kept forgetting about it.
It's there but only happens when I first grab the wheel, after it self adjusts.
Still drives me nuts though.

I think I know what you are talking about. It feels as if the whole steering column is slightly lose. I usually feel it when I get out of the car and grab the wheel as an "exit assist"

The other thread, on the identical topic, appears to suggest that the dealer replaced a steering column because of the "play" described in the threads BUT opened a new can of worms. It was reassuring, however, to see prompt dealer reaction to a reported problem so I would not wish to deter them

This problem, IF there is a problem, appears to have not been properly discussed between some dealers and Infiniti since the topic remains unresolved and therefore a continuing cause of anxiety for some owners. Nowhere have I read of any "play" after the locking-in has taken place... that would be an entirely different story, of course..!

it's the steering pin locking the steering wheel into the column when you shut off the car and it unlocks when you turn on the car. a malfunction can occur however, if the ecu messes up and it can permanently lock your steering wheel. this happened in my brother's z06 and he had to pay 900 dollars to get it fixed.
