Fishing for compliments I see. haha...jk. I'm kind of in the same boat as you are. I'm a relatively young guy myself at 25. I have a pretty lucrative job as a restaurant owner/manager and since returning to LA from college, I've been saving up to put a down payment on a condo. I still have a couple months before escrow closes. I originally wanted to purchase a Vette Z06, but "sacrificed" that for a G. Because I opted for the G, I was able to secure a $850k condo instead of a sub $500k unit. Anyways, for a 23 year old, your decision to drive a used Honda after driving the G is quite admirable. Well done my good chum. Maybe you'll be driving the Skyline GTR in a couple of years.

Man - I have been doing some number crunching, and I may have to make a similar decision. I have not been able to sell my house for what I thought I could and making payments on a new car could be a bit tight.
I think I am going to cancel my order and get an 03-04 G35 coupe instead. I always wanted one anyway and they can be had at a nice price now.

Awesome decision man, in the long run I am sure you will be much happier. I got my G after I graduated med school, drove an 89 volvo 740 turbo wagon for the last two years of med school after I totalled the 04 Accord I bought 6 months into it. Anyway the G is expensive to own, with the 3 yr finance im paying 1100 plus insurance, etc. I figure the money from my accord along with other savings I have is down payment for a house when i finish residency in '09 and the G will be sold for a ring since it will be paid off in '09 also. I thought about getting out of the G a few times last year when people made comments as to how I drive a nicer car then my program director, etc. but in the end I held onto it. I am curious though since you work for a dealer, like someone else asked, how does it work if your trade in is worth more than the new car you are buying?

It doesnt really matter if your trading in a car that is worth more then the car your buying. What matters is how much you owe compared to what the car your trading in is worth. If the car owe 40 grand on the car and its only worth 35, then your in a negitive equity position. If you owe $40,000 on the car and the car is worth $45,000, then you have yourself a $5,000 dolllar down payment towards the next vehicle. You can also use part of the money, like put $2500 down and request a check for the difference.
Lets just say the car you are trading in, you owe 0 on and its worth 30 grand. The car you are looking to buy is $15,000. You can with out a doubt trade in your car for the $15,000 car, and after taxes, title, license and all other fees involved request a check from the dealer for the difference that is left over. This situation is very uncommon, as usually if someone has a fully paid off car, they usually dont want to trade it in for less of a car...but anything is possible.

good job. im about to do the same myself. its not so much the money, its just the G isnt very practical anymore. it sucks in the winter, i dont let my girl drive it which causes problems, and its out of warranty now so repairs cost a ****in lot for this car. im just gonna trade it in straight up for something cheaper like an accord or something that i can go on road trips and pile friends in. G coupe is really a bitch as a daily driver. next summer i think ill get something nice but for now the G has to go

#2, let your GF drive it, she can't really hurt it
#3, with snow tires it handles awesome in 6+ inches.
#4, KEEP THE G

#1- not a ton, but even the same amount of work that has been done will be alot in repairs. also, costs are very high for repairs compared to other models and I didnt mind this before but having a nice car is less impiortant to me now so i will spend my money on something else.
#2- my girl drives far to work so it will rack up mileage pretty quick and she hits things.
#3 I have snow tires and they help, but it still sucks. 6+ inches its ok but in icy conditions its horrible. and ive driven many other rear wheel drive cars in the winter with the same setup with no problems. plus long drives arent easy
#4 id love to but its more of a burden now than anything. may look at getting the GTR next summer but well see. It doesnt matter to me right now what i drive.
