Wow, this forum is great.

Thank you so much for your post.
If the market is like that, I will try to make more aggressive deal.

Thank you.

lol the point im making is that im not goin to go kill myself for paying 400 over invoice and paying the additional 500-1000... compared to some of you.

THis thread is great for those who has not bought the car yet. But if you did already buy it and paid a lil more.. don't go kill yourself about it...

that's the point i was tryin to make. i mean shoot it is after all only 500? :shrug

mrclowny, point taken...no use crying over spilled milk. However, for those still looking to buy, I would encourage them NOT to negotiale any less agressively simply because it is a $40K car.

Help steer a newbie on a G35 deal

Hi...first timer here...

I'm looking at a new G35 here in Scottsdale, AZ. New to Infiniti, coming from Honda/Acura; have looked at the Acura TL, BMW 328i, Merceded C300, Lexus IS350 and the G35. The Lexus is the only one that compares, and it's much more $$.

Anyways, G35 Journey with the Premium package, no Navi or Sport (this is for my wife). Invoice on this, incl. Destination, is $32,579. They will give me $600 over invoice (which they say is the Costco price), or $33,179. They also added $1,995 on the sticker for dealer add-ons (like tint, flaps, etc.), which I said I'd give them a max of $300 for to cover their minimal cost.

So:
- G35 Journey + Premium
- Platinum Graphite + Stone interior
- Dealer add-ons
- Price to me: $33,479 + TTL, etc.

Plus, I'll be doing the 2.9% financing for 48 or 60-months through Infiniti.

But since I'm asking, they are offering the 36-month lease for this with a residual of .59 and a money factor of .0019. From what I've seen, they might have bumped the MF up on me. What do you think about those lease terms?

Let me know if you think I can do better on either.

Thanks!!

The market is very soft right now. I think you can likely get the car for invoice (including bogus dealer fees, which typically run $500-600.) Also, don't pay more than invoice on mud flaps and cargo net. The other items are pure dealer "packs" and should be avoided.

I bought the same car at just under invoice and waited until the end of the month. Hundreds of $ quickly peeled away. You should consider trying to send faxes to several general managers with firm out the door offers.

It all depends on your local market. In some parts of the country this car can be had at invoice or below. In other areas your price would be a good one. I purchased a similarly equipped car last month in Houston for about the same as you have been quoted. I paid $700 over invoice plus $220 for the tint and wheel lock add-ons. Dealer also gave me 2 years scheduled maintenance for free (ask for this if your dealer is not offering it).

I purchased through the internet sales department and played five dealerships against each other. Even when they knew I was ready to walk, I couldn't get one dealership below $2K over invoice. Two others let me walk at $1500 over. I had a quote for $300 over from a dealership in San Antonio, but decided the $400 in savings would be lost when I figured in the cost and hassle of driving to San Antonio, not to mention the value of the free maintenance.

So if you have thoroughly explored all of your local options, and it’s the car you (or your wife) really want, I’d say go for it.

As for the lease option, I tend to keep my cars for a long time (10 years +) so I have never considered a lease. I’m sure others on this forum can advise you on that front.

Took the Plunge on Saturday!

G35 Journey: Premium, Nav, Splash Guards, Wheel locks & Cargo Net:
$34,306

But the dealer didn't have Wheel locks so they are refunding $50. Final total is $34,256 (Inc. dealer fee and destination) + TT

We were considering the Lexus 350 and BMW 335. The G won hands down.

I'm looking to install headrest mounted screens. Can anyone recommend a make of screen?

Thanks

I've been kicking around an '08 G35x in the Cincinnati/Dayton area:

Nav package
Premium
cargo net

39,400 MSRP and they quoted me 36,500. But they won't move off of that.

Invoice is 35,955.

Indy deals

I'm glad to see the deal you've been offered in Cincinnati. I live in Indy and there is only one dealer in town so there is no competition, locally anyway. If I could get a similar deal, I would be satisfied.
I've been waiting for a low mileage 07x to come in but there has been only 1 since December and it sold the same day. I'm also somewhat picky about my color and i want navigation.

I'm going to wait a couple more months to see if any good 07's come in and then i might get serious about an '08.

I checked around at a few dealers in Ohio and was not able to get anthing much better than my local dealer in PA. I have the same situation with my local dealer in Pittsburgh. I ended up getting two offers below invoice in the Baltimore and DC area and went with one of those.

What do you think?

Used '08 G35x with premium, navi, and wood--2000 miles

Asking $35,900. A pretty rare find...a used 2008 with practically no miles. Supposedly the guy trades vehicles every 2-3K miles. He must have money to burn.

What does everyone think?

Sounds a little high. Have you checked the invoice price for the same car new? Prices are going up now by $250 so he paid less. Also, 2,000 miles is worth more than a thousand at present IRS rates of over .50 a mile.

did you not read my post just above same exact new for 36,600. so you think 35,900 is a good buy?

I went ahead and bought the car. I realize people are getting invoice or better on this car but that does not seem to be the case where I'm at.

Plus I'm tired of dinking around with it. I love the car and if 36,500 is the best they'll offer, well...36,500 it is.

See you on the road!
