I already love my G, and I've gotten used to the clutch action and can drive it relatively smoothly (still have the occasion hiccups, and overall driving this thing still requires more effort than other brands I've driven).

With all the positive feedback, can I love my G even more? I can't wait!!!

So you're confirming that the part-throttle hesitation in 1st so many of us have experienced was caused by a defective slave? I remember when we were all trying to figure out what it was and everyone thought it was ECM related, not mechanical.

I had taken my car to the dealer here today after making an appointment. I just got a call saying that they did not have a needed part and that I have to get the car back to them again next week... Isnt this why we make appointments?

a dealer won't order parts because if you don't show up they are stuck with the part. i know it sucks. i wouldn't mind buying the part ahead of time instead of getting dicked around like that. its how the cookie crumbles i guess.

Umm...no. My dealership is ordering parts for customers (some of which are my friends and fellow board members) after only having spoken to them over the phone. The service advisors are not going to call you down here just to waste your time and tell you that we'll be ordering the parts. Not only does it waste the customer's time, it wastes the service advisor's time as well.

Also consider that this recall only affects '07 V36s (not counting Z33s of course). There were no '07 V36 Coupes, only Sedans. That means that this will only affect a small percentage of vehicles on the road since 6M/T Sedans only account for 5% of G Sedan sales. One or two spare slave cylinder parts aren't going to be a big deal. Especially when all of this is covered under warranty. The chances of someone going "yah, go ahead and order the parts for me" and then backing out are pretty slim. You'd have to be really bored to go and do something like that.

I'm curious to know exactly what you told your service advisor. Did you inform he or she that you were bringing it in for the recall, or just that you wanted to get your slave cylinder replaced? If your service advisor didn't know you were coming down for the recall, he or she may have assumed you had an immediate problem which is why they set up an appointment right away. Upon finding that there was nothing seriously wrong with your car at the moment, it's understandable that they'd tell you to come back when they receive the replacement parts for the recall. Think about it, if another customer has their slave fail on them right then and there, they should be in line to have their car fixed before you since you bringing your car in for the recall is a precautionary measure rather than a reactionary one.

In that case, your advisor probably hadn't spoken to parts yet. A little sloppy on their part but no one's perfect. I'm not defending their lack of communication but the main thing is that when you do come in for the repair they take care of you.

true overall, this dealership has not been too bad. I have had to go back multiple times for a couple of small items but otherwise they always try to set things right.

I'm curious to see if this applies to all 2007 6MT sedans. Mine is May 2007 build date.
not to be rude, but did you read the post or what? on the post it gives the VIN numbers.

"APPLIED VINs: JNKBV61E*7M 700138 to 727518"

Could be. Chances are though that his service advisor simply didn't get a chance to talk to someone in parts beforehand. Even a bad dealership wouldn't do something like that on purpose, if not to save the customer's time, to save the dealership's because they're lazy.

Yes, I read the post and I saw the VINs listed. There are 27,380 vehicles in that range, of which 1,600 are affected. So maybe I should clarify my questions.
  1. How many 2007 G35S 6MT Sedans did Infiniti build for the U.S. market?
  2. What percentage of those fall under the recall?
  3. When were the affected vehicles built?

One poster, whose vehicle was built in June, has already said that the recall does not apply to his G.

I understand that it was ~1,600 confirmed failures. Not that ONLY 1,600 that might be effected. It's 27,380 (based on the VIN range) that might be effected because their slave cylinder was in the right parts lot.

If your in the VIN range get it replaced, imo.

Had it done to mine yesterday. The car feels to drive much better. The clutch lets out much smoother in my opinion. Its much easier to get the car rolling now.
