My car actually just missed the cut 7278** but my clutch feels somewhat sticky sometimes (and the pedal squeaks, like a rusty bedspring when I just tap it. I don’t even need to engage the clutch… it’s very annoying!). Dealer was saying something about "if we can't reproduce the...” bull. I know it’s a bit off topic, but any ideas/advice?

Had the recall performed on my car a week ago. Clutch still feels a bit sticky. No change since the new slave was installed. I'm thinking there may be a problem with my clutch master. I need to talk to my service advisor or one of my techs when I have time.

Anyone have good/bad experiences with either?
Merlyn, have your parts come in yet? I called almost 3 weeks ago to the same dealership and still no parts! Anyone else having this problem?

Just got Mine Done. The Clutch pedal feels alot better. More Solid feel through out the pedals travel, Not having the Real light feeling on and off, and the Pick up point is a little more Forgiving. Not so Abrupt like before, can drive alot smoother now! And my car shifts into all gears smoothly! Not like others I have read saying it's hard to get into some gears. Kudo's to my Infiniti Dealer, they did an excelent Job, and Quick too, Was done by 12Noon.

Upon driving my G today, I noticed the Pick up Point is right where I like it now, In the MIDDLE! Not too low, and Not high up like it was before. Much Better!! More Dirviable and less strain on the Claf from that before High Pick-up point! I love it now!

My parts came in and the dealership performed the service last week. After that the clutch felt even stickier, so I took it back yesterday and had the tech drive it. He didn't like the it was hard sometimes to just push the lever into first or second so he told the service advisor he wants to fully inspect it. The slight burning smell helped my case too. I'll post an update when I get my car back.

it took about a week for the slave cylinder assembly to come in. I just got some interesting news today though. Apparently something funny is going on with my transmission and they wanna research it further, so they ordered a new transmission for me along with clutch assembly. I'm so far VERY impressed with Infiniti's level of service. Maybe now the gearbox and clutch will be smooth like they should be.

Hmm, if it only took one week for your parts, there's no way it should take 3 weeks for me. I'm definitely calling to see what the hold up is.

I just had the recall service completed on my car and I have to agree with all the positive comments so far.

The "sweet spot" where the clutch grabs is now wider than before. In the past I had smoothness issues with a 3rd to 4th shift if I didn't feather the clutch.

Now I do the same release action and the clutch pickup is perfectly smooth.

I did notice the shifter itself feels different than before, I'm not sure if any parts were changed with that or if it was tweaked as part of the service. I also noticed the stick doesn't vibrate as much while driving. This issue never really bothered me since I never hold the stick once I'm in the gear but it may matter to others.

I have a long road trip the next few days so I'll come back and report my updates. The car has 9700 miles on it and I actually get used to the way the old clutch felt. Now it feels like a different car!

Need tech. support

At my second scheduled service (a couple of weeks before receiving the recall letter), around 12000Km (7200miles), I asked the service advisor to check the clutch for the following reason:

With previous 2003 G35 M6, only twice in 100,000Km (60,000miles) did I get to slip the clutch to a point where the car would fill with disgusting burnt clutch smell (Radio was blasting at full volume while keeping car stand still on clutch friction point at a red light on a hill, 7000RPM, that's a smooth running motor).
With the new 2007 G35 M6, before the second scheduled service I had already experienced over a dozen occurrences of burnt clutch smell.

They finally concluded that there was nothing wrong with the clutch. Two weeks later I receive the recall letter.

Can anyone tell me if the existing problem with the slave cylinder have an effect on clutch slipping?

If in the affirmative, shouldn't we get a clutch replacement?

Hey man Arctic .... not to sound rude or anything ...... but honestly no clutch is going to stand up to slipping it on a hill at 7000 RPM (holy smokes !)

This recall doesn't have anything to do with burnt clutch smell ...... your case sounds more like abusing the cr*p out of the poor clutch

My vin is 712710 I called barrington dealer in IL and they said that it didnt need the service, I told them I was bringing it in anyways because the clutch sucked. Are these guys just messing with me because they dont want to do the work???

Maybe I should call infiniti north america?

any thoughts?

update: called Infinit north america, they had it in their system called the dealership and told them to do it. Dealerships will say/do anything to get out of doing some work

Let me explain

Only twice with the previous G35 did I get the burnt smell. Only twice and it really was just an accident.
With the new 2007 G35S, I get the smell from absolutely normal use of the clutch. I am the same driver then I was prior to June 2007, which is when I received the new 2007.
I do not abuse my car, I sometimes use its characteristic performances but I do not abuse it. I felt really bad when I slipped that poor clutch. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It took me a while to get over it. This is no joke.

Hmm... very strange. I am experiencing the same thing. I'm not by any means a "pro" manual transmission driver, but since I first learned back in 2003, I've only really had a BAD case of the clutch stink in my last car (a Mazda6).

When I got my G back in Nov 2006, despite the stiff clutch, I never smelled anything. Then, after the recall work, I slipped just a little bit the other day, and boy, could I smell it. Maybe with the new parts making the clutch action so much smoother, it's also easier to ride/slip your clutch. (Sorry if I'm throwing out terms and using them incorrectly. That's how much of a n00b I am with how a clutch works.)
