Hey guys,
Its not that hard to do it if you are an installer. HOwever, the price of adding an aftermarket alarm on top of the remote starter is nominal. I recommend that you install a 2 way paging alarm for that comfort.
What you need is the IDATALINK module..
I have a Compustar 2 way paging alarm PRO SERIES with the I-datalink.

I have the remote starter installed in my 2008 G35x. Installed by the dealer. I'm using the infiniti key fab, instead of having the second remote. If you use your key fab, hit lock 3 times in 5 sec and it works. Distance with key fab is 500 feet. With second starter remote it is 750-1000ft. Infiniti's cost is $400, but they charge you about $750. They splt their cost with me when I purchased the car.

I too am interested in remote start and so far I have heard of compustar being used with a module from some other company to make it all work, but the idea of carrying 2 remotes is not appealing. I do not need remote start for my home but when I go out in the winter etc or summer am parked near where i am at it could prove useful.
