Service Engine Soon light went on last week, steady, not blinking . Had only 500 miles on the car ('08 g35x\premium). Did the gas cap tightening thing for the next 100 miles but it didn't go off. Brought the car into the dealer who put it on the comptur and got a code: PO116. The dealer didn't have this code in their books and had to call Infiniti who told them to clean the "cooler temperature" ground. They did this and the light is now off. Anyone out there hear of this problem before?

I know I haven't seen it on my car, and I haven't read about it here.
Fluke.

Oh nooo. That is a common code for VW. I hope we no going there. My friend had this on his VW and the fan cooling fan was kept running forever after he shut the engine. They actually cleared it for him and it came back few days later. They changed the coolant in it and replaced something I can't recall. It was good after that. He was told it is common with VW.
I never seen/hear it before and after.

p0116 is a generic obd2 code..something to do with the coolant temp switch. how could the dealer not know this? it should show right up in their scantool.
The dealer said that they had never seen it before - had to call Infiniti to get the info. It's been 3 days since they cleaned the cooler temp ground and the problem hasn't come back (hope those aren't famous last words...).

i have had this code numerous times it is for the ECT sensor, first saw the code on a 08 QX56, never seen it before that we normally used the generic code P0117 for that perticular fault. Seen it twice on 07+ sedans i cleaned cleaned and retorqued all the grounds like you said they did and it did correct the issue. The dealer called infiniti becuase they havn't seen the P0116 as of yet as it was just instituted on our cars, they just needed assistance for the description or didn't know what they were doing, personally i did not need to call techline assistance for this code.

Thought I'd update this thread with a service bulletin.
If I recall correctly, I had this code (which I subsequently cleared) over a year ago. I didn't do anything special like cleaning the grounds; just simply cleared the code. Well, it back yesterday evening for my wife so I decided to have her take the car in today instead of clearing it.
The dealer reprogrammed per ITB09-010A
