Climate control temperature varies, is this normal?

The temperature conrol in my '08 G35X sedan is very annoying. Rather than sensing the actual internal air temp, it seems more sensitive to the outside. I'm constantly changing it from upper 60's to lower 80's to stay comfortable depending on the outside temperature. Why should the outside matter? If I set it to 72, shouldn't it try to get the inside to 72? Where is the sensor on this thing? Is this normal?

In contrast, my wife's '06 Honda Pilot works perfectly. You set it at 72 and leave it. Morning, night, winter, summer, always feels the same inside.

So after reading that thread, I've realized this is "normal". Such a pity for such a nice (and expensive car). The sunload sensor does more harm than good.

I had issues with it at first, but now i just set it to 77 regardless of weather. What i noticed is not that it doesn't do it's thing, it's just that it takes some time for it to ramp up to whatever needs to be done. (i.e. cold air when hot, warm air when cold).

Before I knew better, I kept switching to manual, turning the AC off/on and adjusting the temp settings and vent flow/direction to a point of exasperation. Now, I am more patient to just set the temp and leave it alone which seems to work well.

I don't know. I have no problem with it. When it is cold out there I just switch to windows and put it to the highest possible for a minute. Once I feel it is warm enough just set it to 74. Other way around when it is warm out there.

I wish I could just set it and forget. And I would say I'm pretty patient with it. However, I'm constantly getting uncomfortable as the outside temp changes. For instance, last night leaving from work, I set it to 77 and was fine. About 30 minutes later, as the temperature dropped outside, I had to crank it up to 81 to be comfortable (and I like things on the cooler side). There was no sun when I left and no sun 30 minutes later, so I'm thinking it's not the sunload sensor. Maybe I should bring it into the dealer. I can't imagine it is working correctly.
