Daimler to provide engines to Infiniti
Yup, caught news of the alliance yesterday...but didnt know this would come of it. Wonder what this means for the new G (due out in about 3 years?)...maybe we will get a diesel option or hybrid option?

And a quote from it, "...while Daimler will provide gasoline and diesel engines out of its current portfolio to Infiniti which includes 4 and 6 cylinder gasoline and diesel engines."

IMO I do not see Infiniti picking up any of the MB normally aspirated motors. Does not really fit their image. I see diesel and hybrid technology being picked up. With the new S class rumored to be going all hybrid for the next generation, this could be the powertrain that finds itself in the M hybrid. Also, the torque monster bluetec diesels that MB uses are awesome IMO. I think a G with one of these would rock (ala BMW 335d).
Although, it is interesting how MB is now minimizing displacement and adding forced induction (ala future AMG models)...could this be the future of Infiniti as well? From a small turbo 4-cylinder all the way up to the new AMG turbo 5.5L.

In the near term, I think something will be phased in to compliment the VQ in the lineup...

One more update. Looks like the G is getting an MB 4-cylinder...
