Dammit. Someone hit me at the parking lot!

I always make it a point to park well away from anyone at work, but somehow someone always manages to ding my car.

In hindsight, that i can deal with. But this?

Anyone care to guess on the angle of impact? I know some of the "regulars" who park nearby and would like to figure this out tomorrow. I can't really tell from the impact what color car hit me.

Thanks for any and all input!

UGGGH!!! I would say someone coming from the passenger side backed into you. I would be on the lookout for people driving in with a car they don't normally drive in with. They will likely borrow their spouse's car until they get the damaged fixed. In any case, sorry to hear.

The way the insurance companies have it set up now, people just do not do the right thing and fess up. Deductibles are too high and the increase in premiums after an accident is too high. Honor and decency are also lacking today too!!!

Thanks guys. I'll certainly be on the lookout tomorrow. Good point on driving a decoy car. I just hope whoever did it only has one car because even if he/she decides to park far away within the lot, i'll hopefully still be able to find 'em.

Only problem is, once i figure it out, what to do?

Although i haven't made a claim for well over a decade, i hope i can get this fixed either through insurance or on my own... deductible is rather high.

I think police do not have jurisdiction in a private/business parking lot. If you do find out who it is, I would confront them and harass them to come clean. If it is someone in your company that you see around, they may do the right thing.

In any case, it looks like they hit your car hard. I would be surprised if their bumper didn't also suffer serious cuts/scratches and deformation.

It is a private lot, but although it's contract only, when there are events nearby they open it up to the public for a minimal fee. There are several businesses who use the lot so i guess the best way to figure it out is to "camp out".

I hope whoever he/she is feels really guilty right now and will come clean. I have half a mind to put a big poster on my car with something like "Did you do this? A kitten dies every minute you keep it a secret. Fess up!"

... or something.

They won't, unfortunately. I had someone use my '05 as a bumper when they did a u-turn...hit the driver's-side back door and the front part of the rear wheel well. No note, no nothing. Bastards!

Cost about $2500 to fix and my insurance (State Farm) took care of it...no ding to my record and no increase to my premium. And the shop did a terrific job. I knew where it'd been hit but I doubt anyone else could find it.

I had the same thing happen to me two Saturday's ago...came ouf the gym after having my car detailed and boom..rear bumper smashed in. $750 later good as new.

If they only had cameras...i would have tracked the car down. Yours is worse than mine...and i'm sorry for that.

It'll be good as new in a week or so....

I am wondering what kind of car also will ding the lower part of the bumper too.

BTW, any chase there could be video cameras covering the parking lot? You don't need much resolution to get a good idea what car hit you.
