tune? for mpg
didnt know the correct place to put this but i figured id try here.
ive got an 07 g35x. im looking to get better gas milage. my friends own a shop they just started using uprev tuning software. so anyways ive been reading here that the stock tune in these cars is pretty f-d up with a/f ratios being really rich from the getgo.
im a big fan of tuning cars as ive had nothing but great experience with them. im wondering how much can be gained from a tune on a stock g. not soo much hp wise but milage wise, can the transmission be tuned as well? can they get rid of my surge at 40mph in the auto or is that still a tsb from nissan thing? im not familiar with uprev. has anyone had good results with the software?
i know its kind of a strange question and its going to get many responses but i figured id ask.
just as a strange example, my cobalt stock with a tune gained 35whp and milage went up from 27mpg to 39mpg. if i can gain 5mpg with the g it will save me over 3k in the next couple of years

Not too sure about the fuel economy increase but I have felt a night and day difference in power in my friends car from a stock tune w/93 and the aggressive tune w/93
I would imagine that if the shop goes in depth with the tune, you'll be able to get decent gains in power and fuel economy

If you really want to get better mpg you should look into other things first. Buying better roll resistant tires inflate tires higher a bit change to different oil ,etc etc. Learn hypermiling. But at the end it comes out again why this car?

gas milage isnt the most important thing, ive got another car for that, but as with anything id love to have a car with 900whp that gets 120mpg... and i have a freind who owns a shop, i can get an incredible deal on the tune and was wondering if anyone has seen a big mpg increase when doing one... thats all. im not seeking out anything just wondering.
but thanks for the info.

I just posted a thread with my UpRev tune results:

I definitely notice a difference in gains throughout the full RPM range, more-so on top end pull. Just get some bolt ons and then tune, you'll love it.

The problem I see is most people get tune to squize more hp for the reason. They are using those extra hp therefor they probably end up having worse mpg after tune. Not because of the tune because of the excitement thet have with the little gain in hp.
Maybe you should buy one and let us know what you can get.

they dont offer any deals for dyno runs.. if they did , there would be alot more dyno days..the last few dyno days only like 5 cars strapped on to dyno. i think its like $75 for 3 runs if you bring 10 + cars .. thats a bit pricey.. if it was $40-50 which is what most places charge. . they would be making good money . .
