Painting grill?

For those of you who have painted your grill...did you tape it and paint it on the car. Or remove and paint?

If remove is it difficult to get grill out?

Here you go. It isn't hard it can just be a little tricky the first time you try to remove it. Just take it slow and you will be fine.

Good Luck!

There some people that done it with it on. A lot masking tape! I think it would be quicker taking it off!

Take it off

I did mine (in the midnight style). IMO, the best approach is to remove the grill, sand the surfaces to be painted, prime, then paint using a heat-resistant spray (e.g. Duplicolor engine or brake paint).

+1 It doesn't take that long to take off the grille. Why bother risking any over-spray on your paint? Not worth it IMO.

I don't understand the logic of keeping the grill on and painting. How do you sand w/ it on in the first place? You gotta be pretty damn lazy to do a half-as$ job painting your grill on a 40k car. I wouldn't even do that to a Civic.

Do it the right way the first time. I did mine with duplicolor primer and duplicolor bumper coating flat black paint (very durable stuff). It was pretty fun to do it myself and it came out perfect! Just be sure to take your time and let each coat dry before spraying it again. You will be fine!
