yeah gas prices for premium in CT are over $4 a gallon so i am really questioning where or not to get a the G or something better on gas like a new TSX

Don't base your car purchase on what gas costs. Think about this, if you would.

Super costs around 20-30 cents higher per gallon than regular. Lets say 30 cents to keep it optimistic.

How much do you drive per week? I drive about 50 miles per day on the weekdays, and about 30 per day on the weekends. So total for me is 310 miles per week.

If the car gets 18 miles per gallon, you'll be spending an extra $5 and change per week for premium vs. regular.

Are you really going to let $20 a month stop you from getting the car you want?

Or if you are concerned with MPG, the TSX may get 3-4 mpg better than the G....using the same 310 miles per week at $4 for premium, you'll be spending an extra $12/week or so, and that's being generous. Who cares!

An 07-08 G35X will NOT get over 20 mixed, unless you drive it extremely conservatively. If you do, what was the point of getting a sports sedan? I drive fairly conservatively for the most part, giving it a good romp every now and again, and average right at 20, with over 75% highway driving.

i'd respectfully disagree. in the summer i can pull 22-23 easily commuting to work in stop&go traffic, as stated earlier, and i do my fair share of spirited driving. i have to believe at over 75% highway you should be getting better mileage (although not necessarily in the winter, but in the spring and summer).

and in the end i think kazyn is right, if i based all my purchases on gas i wouldn't make half of them. and he's right, maybe $50 a month is what you would save (over the initial price of the vehicle that is...).

go for the G, it's worth it. just consider getting an 08 G37 for better gas mileage and you'll be happy on both fronts.

I suppose speed might have something to do with it. What are your highway speed limits there? Ours are 65, and I usually set the cruise at ~70. During the warmer months, my average was closer to 21 mpg, but has dipped to right at 20 mpg, overall. Even when I've made an effort to drive efficiently, I have never seen 23 mpg for a tank of gas. I think my best was around 22.

Edit: I should clarify that our highway speed limits are 65 mph for two lane, 70 mph for interstate and other controlled access highways.

Some things I've noticed about my 6MT..

With my winter tires (they're super high quality all-season tires, not real snow tires), on the highway, at 70 MPH i get 26 MPG. If I go even just 75 MPH, that drops to 23 MPG.

With my summer tires, I see about 27 MPG and still a 3 MPG drop from 70 to 75 MPH.

Going up to 80 MPH I see it drop another 1-2 MPG.

I don't know about the X models, but breaking 70 MPH seems like an aerodynamic brick wall for my car.

So i have pretty much decide to move forward with my G purchase regardless of the crappy MPG situation (lots of cars are worse) I know that the difference between a sport and nonsport g35x is usually just 18" wheels, paddle shifters, and sport seats, but does it alos have different body molding or a different front bumper?
