2009 G37x loaner - don't like it

Hey guys,
I dropped my '08 G35 Journey off at the dealer today to check out the idle shudder issue, and got a 2009 G37x loaner.

I was expecting it to feel faster, but it's a different story. The car has 22k miles on it, so it's definitely broken in. However, it feels a lot more sluggish and disconnected in its throttle response, even with the 7-speed auto, compared to my car. It's as if there's a coating of heavy grease in the throttle and engine. Smooth, but disconnected. It's hard to describe. Maybe it's the x or maybe it's the transmission. Has anyone felt something similar driving the G37 or X models compared to the G35 RWD?

Also, I HATE the fact that the 7-speed auto trans keeps you in like 6th or 7th when crusing down the street at like 40mph. The car has to downshift like 4 gears just to pass someone at that speed! Takes forever.

And first gear is WAY to short, almost pointless.

Yulp! Excatly, I got a g37 non X and noticed that exactly as you describe. Hated it as well. Your not the only one. LOL thats what a lot of people want....better gas mileage but I think Infiniti should realize that if its the case they would be getting hondas or hybrids.

^ true those cars would seem sluggish but are faster, most of them record a certified 13.5sec flat stock without much fuss while ours need a good driver else 13.8-14.1sec is average.

I have the same loaner i hate the way it drives (drivetrain especially) but like the interior and ride. The transmission always feels like its droppng down in gears to hard

G35 Sedan RWD
I had a g37 loaner too while replacing some trims that is peeling off.

well, the car gives more kick from the acceleration (i love it), so yes it is faster. i dont notice too much sluggish from 7AT. center console is different but is subjective to personal flavor.

i love the vented seats...i would pay $500 or more to get it if i could upgrade my 07, i live in cali...summer gets super hot.

also had an 09g37x loaner when my 08g35x was in for service. sluggishness may be felt due to the 7at, but the car is definitely faster. i loved it
